Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Bengaluru is seeking a backup operations engineer to design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise backup solutions. The role focuses on day-to-day administration, job monitoring, reporting, and timely escalation of failures.

You will manage backup systems, work with deduplication storage such as Data Domain, coordinate with OEMs to meet SLAs, and provide on-call 24x7 support in a rotating shift.

Responsibilities

• Good understanding of backup design, implementation and troubleshooting.
• Manage day-to-day backup administration tasks: jobs, reporting, escalation of failed jobs, scheduling backups.
• Maintain backup systems and capacity utilization with audit trails.
• Experience with deduplication storage and Data Domain.
• Coordinate with OEMs to ensure SLAs and break-fix support.
• Perform emergency data and system recovery from backups for Linux, Unix, Virtual, and Windows servers.
• Provide 24x7 IT operations support in rotation and on-call basis.
• Handle large, heterogeneous environments and troubleshoot issues.
• Demonstrate good communication skills.

• Good understanding of design, implementation and troubleshooting for various backup technologies
• In-depth understanding of day-day backup administration tasks such as management and monitoring of jobs, reporting, escalation of failed jobs, scheduling adhoc backups, capacity utilization, maintaining audit trails etc
• Manage and maintain the backup systems
• Experience with deduplication storage systems, with Data Domain is a must
• Should be able to co-ordinate with respective OEMs to ensure SLAs and during break fix
• Performing emergency data and system recovery from backups for Linux, Unix, Virtual, and Windows servers
• Provide 24x7 IT operations support in a team on a rotation and on-call basis
• Should be proficient in handling large and heterogeneous setup with knowledge on troubleshooting of issues
• Should possess good communication skills
