Pure Storage India Pvt Ltd in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Backend Engineering Lead for Portworx. You will direct the Kubernetes-native backup/restore work, architect scalable cloud-native services, and drive high-availability data protection features.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and own end-to-end delivery from design to production readiness, ensuring secure, scalable, and robust backend systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of development experience in enterprise-grade cloud products.
• Experience in building distributed systems with strong consensus, cluster membership and scalability.
• Expertise in Golang or C++ for backend services.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native data services.

THE ROLE

Portworx by Everpure(Formerly Pure Storage) Everpure Acquired Portworx in October 2020, Creating the Industry's Most Complete Kubernetes Data Services Platform for Cloud Native Applications. This acquisition represents Pure’s largest to date and our deeper expansion into the fast-growing market for multi-cloud data services to support Kubernetes and containers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead the design, development, and deployment of Portworx's Kubernetes-native backup and restore solution, serving as a technical anchor for the team.

Design and build cloud-native services that operate reliably at scale, with a strong emphasis on performance, quality, and efficiency in both design and implementation.

Deeply leverage Kubernetes constructs (operators, CRDs, controllers, CSI) to build robust, production-grade data protection capabilities.

Ensure security, resilience, stability, and high availability are first-class considerations in every design and implementation decision.

Design and develop robust, well-defined APIs that integrate seamlessly with the frontend and Web UI.

Drive architectural decisions and technical direction for the product, mentor engineers, and set the bar for engineering quality through design reviews and code reviews.

Own end-to-end delivery of complex features — from design documents through implementation, testing at scale, and production readiness.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 10+ years of proven development experience in Enterprise grade products for private or public cloud offerings ( Ex - vSphere, Openshift baremetal or AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Experience with enterprise systems products in network or storage domain
• Experience in building distributed systems with strong concepts on consensus, cluster membership, scalability, resilience
• Expertise in Golang programming or C++
• Expertise in building scalable systems for Kubernetes
• Expertise In-depth knowledge of container and micro services architecture
• Demonstrated experience in designing scalable GRPC/REST based backends
• Demonstrated mentorship in individual leadership in solving ambiguous technical problems
• Demonstrated ability to perform deep troubleshooting of problems involving kubernetes, storage vendors, performance and OS in user and kernel space
• Understanding of Cloud delivery models like Saas/Paas/Iaas

We are primarily a 5 days in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Bangalore office in compliance with Pure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
