Job summary

METRO Global Solution Center IN is seeking a software engineer with 7+ years of Java, Spring, and cloud experience to join a cross-functional product team. You will work across inception to delivery, building scalable microservices on GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes, and advocating for secure, high-quality code.

You will collaborate with engineers and clients to understand needs, split large projects into manageable subprojects, and help shape the future of METRO's wholesale software platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Java development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for automation.
• 7+ years of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience.
• Strong knowledge of Terraform for IaC.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Cassandra).
• 7+ years in Spring.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in a cross-functional product team to deliver features.
• Participate in all software engineering phases from inception to deployment.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable code following best practices.
• Improve product quality, security, and performance.
• Work with teams to design and launch new features.
• Communicate with clients to understand needs and advise on solutions.

Job Description

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborating in a cross functional product team and with other teams on solving customer problems by delivering product functionalities and support;
• Being involved in all phases of software engineering, from inception to coding, testing, delivery and operation;
• Developing high quality code that follows best practices and clean code principles;
• Advocate for improvements to product quality, security and performance;
• Collaborating with other engineers or team members on various layers of the infrastructure, in order to design and launch new features;
• Interacting with the client in order to understand and characterize their needs and advise them if necessary.

Qualifications

Required key competencies and qualifications

• You have profound knowledge in programming language such as Java (7+ years of experience) as well as enthusiasm for automating and automatically scaling tests and deployments (with Docker and Kubernetes)
• You have fun solving complex business and technical problems and you want to work in a team that shares this ambition with you
• You have 7+ years experience with GCP and knowledge of IaC (Terraform)
• You want to develop yourself constantly and you love to make our digital world a little bit better every day
• You are interested in splitting large projects into small, manageable subprojects with microservices
• You have experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL and Cassandra)
• You have 7+ years experience with Spring.
• You have security in mind when designing an application
• You find it exciting to get to know and use new technologies and trends
• You are able to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal).
• It would be a plus if you have experience with Datadog
