Job summary

Optimhire is seeking a Backend Developer with DevOps focus to build and maintain REST APIs using Python and Django REST Framework. The role spans PostgreSQL design, Celery tasks, and secure multi-tenant architectures across cloud infrastructure.

You will integrate RFID/IoT devices, write tests, and continuously improve system performance on Google Cloud Platform using GKE, Cloud Run, and CI/CD pipelines. Prior SaaS/Startup experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Strong Python (3.7+), solid programming fundamentals.

• RESTful API design with JWT/OAuth2, versioning and validation.

Backend Development

• Build and maintain REST APIs using Python and Django REST Framework (DRF).
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and database migrations.
• Develop Celery-based asynchronous tasks for background processing, scheduled jobs, reporting, and workflow automation.
• Maintain secure multi-tenant architecture with proper data isolation across customer accounts.

Build and enhance modules including: o Asset Masters o Material Requests o Allotments o Inward & Outward o Returns o ASN/GRN o Expense Management o Procurement o Reporting

• Integrate RFID, Barcode, QR Code, and other AIDC hardware devices using APIs and SDKs.
• Write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and maintain high code quality standards.
• Troubleshoot application issues and continuously improve system performance and scalability.

DevOps & Cloud (Google Cloud Platform)

• Manage and maintain infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Deploy and manage applications using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, and Compute Engine.
• Administer Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), Memorystore (Redis), Cloud Storage, and Cloud CDN.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, Artifact Registry, or equivalent tools.
• Monitor application health using Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging, and proactively respond to production alerts.
• Configure and maintain Cloud Armor (WAF/DDoS Protection), IAM, Secret Manager, and Security Command Center.
• Manage deployments, environment configuration (Development, Staging, and Production), and rollback strategies.
• Implement and maintain Pub/Sub-based event-driven workflows where applicable.
• Ensure cloud infrastructure follows best practices for availability, scalability, security, and cost optimization.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong proficiency in Python (3.7+ or later) with excellent programming fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and migrations.
• Experience with Celery and Redis for asynchronous task processing.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, authentication (JWT/OAuth2), versioning, validation, and error handling.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform services, including: o Compute Engine o Cloud SQL o Cloud Storage o Cloud CDN o Cloud Load Balancing o IAM
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative development workflow

Good to Have

• Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) or Cloud Run.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Experience with Memorystore/Redis for caching and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of Cloud Armor and GCP security best practices.
• Experience with Pub/Sub or other event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with IoT, RFID, barcode, or industrial device integrations.
• Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS application architecture.
• Basic understanding of React.js to collaborate effectively with frontend developers.
