Qualifications

What You'll Do :

As an SDE2 Backend Engineer, you'll take end-to-end ownership of feature modules, enforce engineering best practices, and mentor junior developers. You'll help us transition from a modular monolith to a microservices-based architecture, ensuring separation of concerns, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Core Responsibilities :

• Own the design, implementation, and scaling of backend modules (NestJS + PostgreSQL)
• Architect and build stateless, testable, and modular APIs for:
  • 1. Amazon Ads (SP, SB, SD), SP-API, campaign manager, catalog health
• Lead data ingestion and cron orchestration for large-scale sync jobs
• Define internal service boundaries and interfaces in preparation for microservices
• Enforce high standards for code reviews, error handling, and observability
• Collaborate on service extraction strategy identify what to decouple, how to deploy, and how to manage communication across services
• Support containerized deployment workflows (Docker, EC2, SSM Parameter Store)

Team Leadership & Engineering Practices :

• Mentor SDE1s and interns, helping them improve technically and professionally
• Champion practices like :
  • 1. Explicit logging and monitoring
  • 2. Structured error handling and retries
  • 3. Type-safe and DRY API contracts
• Propose tech debt cleanups and refactoring initiatives as we scale
• Contribute to on-call readiness and help improve our alerting stack (GoAlert, logs, metrics)

What We're Looking For :

Required :

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience
• Proficient in NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and TypeORM
• Experience with distributed system principles (even in a monolith)
• Strong understanding of API design, data modeling, and scalable architecture
• Proactive in code quality, documentation, and mentoring
• Comfortable with Docker, EC2, and SSM Parameter Store
• Experience with microservice design patterns
• Familiarity with message queues, service discovery, and API gateways
• Worked with Amazon Ads API or SP-API
• Exposure to ETL pipelines, cron scheduling, or data sync reliability
