Job summary

Hubino Technologies is seeking a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to design and scale a fully serverless platform. You will work on Java-based services on AWS Lambda, writing raw SQL with JDBC, and integrating with Stripe for payments.

You’ll collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to ship features end-to-end and contribute to deployment pipelines and observability of serverless services.

About the Role :

We're looking for a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join our engineering team building and scaling a fully serverless platform. You'll work on Java-based services running on AWS Lambda, writing clean, performant, raw SQL against production databases, and integrating with third-party systems including Stripe for payments. This role suits someone who enjoys working close to the metal on cloud-native architecture without the overhead of managing servers or containers.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services deployed entirely on AWS Lambda (no EC2, no containers)
• Write and optimize raw SQL queries using plain JDBC no ORM layer to lean on
• Work within serverless constraints: cold start mitigation, Lambda payload size limits, and concurrency management

What We're Looking For

• 35 years of professional backend development experience, with strong Java fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architecture patterns
• Solid understanding of relational databases and comfort writing raw SQL via JDBC (no ORM crutch)
• Experience working within serverless constraints cold starts, payload limits, concurrency throttling
• Ability to debug and reason about distributed, event-driven systems
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, fast-moving team

Nice to Know

• The platform is deployed entirely serverless (no EC2/containers) cold starts, payload size limits, and Lambda concurrency are real constraints you'll encounter
• Java services use plain JDBC with no ORM - raw SQL discipline is expected
• Stripe payment integration is part of the platform; prior exposure is a plus

Nice to Have

• Prior experience integrating with Stripe or similar payment gateways
• Familiarity with AWS services beyond Lambda (API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, CloudWatch)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform, or SAM)
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for serverless deployments
