Job summary

AI-NATIVE ENGINEERING is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design and own high‑throughput, AI‑assisted microservices. You will architect event‑driven services using Kafka and Redis, optimize data access in MySQL/MongoDB, and deploy on Kubernetes with robust observability. Collaboration across Eng, Data, DevOps and Security is essential.

You will lead design decisions, mentor peers, and ensure zero‑downtime deployments while keeping costs predictable as we scale.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead AI-assisted velocity initiatives for Node.js and Golang microservices.
• Architect high-throughput event-driven services with Kafka/Redis.
• Own data performance: optimize MySQL and MongoDB queries to sub‑p99 latencies.
• Drive features from design docs to Kubernetes deployment with reliability.
• Design APIs, ensure backward compatibility, and maintain clear service contracts.
• Operate Kubernetes with logging, monitoring, and alerting; troubleshoot prod issues.
• Improve scalability while controlling cloud costs and resource utilization.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers across teams.

YOUR SPECIFIC MANDATE

In this role, you will be directly responsible for:

• AI-Native Velocity: Lead the 70% AI-assisted PR mandate by mastering Cursor, Copilot, and Claude to accelerate delivery of Node.js (NestJS) and Golang microservices—while keeping human intelligence focused on high-level system design and architecture decisions.
• Unbreakable Backend Architecture: Architect high-throughput, event-driven microservices using Kafka and Redis, embedding resilience patterns like circuit breakers, health checks, and fallback mechanisms to handle massive traffic spikes without manual intervention.
• Data Performance Ownership: Own the ‘unit economics’ of the data layer—optimize MySQL and MongoDB queries, design efficient schemas, and ensure sub‑p99 latencies with predictable infrastructure costs on GCP.
• End-to-End Golden Path Ownership: Drive features from design docs to Kubernetes deployment, ensuring high reliability through strong engineering practices and maintaining low change failure rates and minimal Sev‑1 incidents.
• API Service Design Excellence: Build clean, versioned, and backward‑compatible APIs and modular microservices with a strong focus on maintainability, scalability, and clear service contracts.
• Cloud‑Native Operations Observability: Design and operate services on Kubernetes with robust logging, monitoring, and alerting; proactively debug production issues and ensure high availability.
• Scalability Cost Efficiency: Continuously optimize system throughput, fault tolerance, and infrastructure utilization to support high growth while maintaining strict control over cloud costs.
• Technical Leadership Collaboration: Lead design decisions, write clear RFCs, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, Data, and DevOps teams to drive high‑quality outcomes.
• Core Engineering Excellence: Apply strong fundamentals in distributed systems, concurrency, and data structures, combined with sharp problem‑solving, debugging, and communication skills.
