Job Details
Associate Cloud Engineer – Enterprise AWS Migrations
Hands‑on experience implementing core AWS infrastructure, automating deployments with Infrastructure as Code, and executing repeatable migration factory tasks (discovery, preparation, cutover, and validation). Strong learning mindset, comfortable working in multi‑disciplinary teams and following established patterns and runbooks.
Core Competencies
- AWS Infrastructure Implementation – VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers, EC2, S3, RDS basics
- Migration Factory Execution – Agent installs, replication checks, wave preparation, test/cutover runbooks, post‑migration validation
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Terraform and/or CloudFormation modules for standard AWS components
- Hybrid Connectivity Support – VPN/Direct Connect configuration support, DNS updates, connectivity validation
- Operations & Troubleshooting – Monitoring with CloudWatch, log analysis, basic performance tuning, incident response support
- Collaboration & Communication – Works closely with senior engineers, architects, and application teams; documents work clearly and follows standards
Technical Skills
Cloud & AWS Services
- Networking: VPC, subnets, route tables, Internet/NAT gateways, security groups, NACLs
- Compute & Storage: EC2, AMIs, EBS, S3 (buckets, lifecycle basics), EFS (optional)
- Databases: RDS (MySQL/Postgres/SQL Server), Aurora, backup and snapshot concepts
- Governance & Security: IAM users/roles/policies, KMS basics, CloudTrail, Config, AWS Backup
- Observability: CloudWatch metrics, logs, alarms, dashboards, CloudWatch Logs, CloudTrail, EventBridge
Migration & Tooling
- AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) or CloudEndure (or similar migration tooling)
- ModelizeIT, and Application Dependency Mapping tools
- Migration task execution: agent installation, replication status checks, test instance launches, cutover preparations
- Experience working within a migration factory process (backlog, waves, standardized runbooks)
Infrastructure as Code & DevOps
- Terraform and/or CloudFormation for provisioning common infrastructure (VPCs, subnets, security groups, EC2, S3, IAM roles)
- Git (GitHub, GitLab, or CodeCommit) for version control and code reviews
- Basic CI/CD (CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps) exposure for infrastructure deployments
Scripting & Automation
- Python and/or PowerShell or Bash for scripting (e.g., bulk tagging, health checks, log parsing, small tooling tasks)
Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (required)
- AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate (required)
- Any relevant entry‑level DevOps, security, or networking certifications
