Job summary

Barclays is seeking an AVP Process Data Engineer based in Pune to drive the evolution of our data governance landscape. You will lead development of data and records governance frameworks and strengthen controls across the bank.

You will partner with global teams to implement scalable data pipelines, governance standards, and training, enabling regulatory compliance and data-driven decision making across functions.

Qualifications

Job Description Purpose of the role

To develop, implement, and maintain effective governance frameworks for all data and records across the bank's global operations.

Accountabilities

• Development and maintenance of a comprehensive data and records governance framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Monitoring data quality and records metrics and compliance with standards across the organization.
• Identification and addressing of data and records management risks and gaps.
• Development and implementation of a records management programme that ensures the proper identification, classification, storage, retention, retrieval and disposal of records.
• Development and implementation of a data governance strategy that aligns with the bank's overall data management strategy and business objectives.
• Provision of Group wide guidance and training on Data and Records Management standard requirements.

To be successful in this role, you should have experience with:

• Building and maintaining data pipelines and curated datasets for reporting and insight generation.
• ETL tooling such as Alteryx, Glue, DBT or equivalent platforms.
• Hands-on delivery of visualisation tools and reporting solutions, including Tableau or equivalent tooling.
• Requirements documentation and clear communication, with the ability to work independently with stakeholders.

Desirable skills / good to have:

• Cloud data engineering experience, including AWS services and modern data ecosystem components (e.g. Snowflake).
• Strong SQL and data modelling capability, including experience of managing and operating SQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with Python, PySpark/Apache Spark, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipeline, with strong knowledge of DevOps best practices.
• Data orchestration and workflow tooling, together with modern lake and lakehouse patterns.
• Exposure to process modelling tools and methods, including IBM Blueworks Live or BPMN-based tooling.
