Job summary

WhiteCrow Research seeks an AVP/Principal Software Engineer to lead cloud-native initiatives across caching and rewards systems. You will drive CI/CD, architecture reviews, and cross-team collaboration to deliver scalable enterprise services.

You will guide engineering across geographic locations, with a strong focus on Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud platforms like AWS and PCF, while maintaining best practices in observability and performance monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of system engineering experience, or 10+ years without a degree.
• 8+ years hands-on development in Java and Spring Boot for enterprise-grade services.
• 5+ years in designing and implementing cloud-native applications using a microservices-based architecture.
• Solid knowledge of event streaming and processing with Kafka.
• Experience deploying and operating applications on AWS and PCF.
• Strong understanding of data storage and caching using GemFire, Redis, and Elasticache.
• 5+ years working with database design and persistence (MySQL, Aurora SQL, NoSQL).
• Experience with observability, logging, and production monitoring using tools like Splunk/New Relic.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development effort for cloud-native applications across Caching Solutions and Rewards System teams, ensuring timely delivery of business outcomes.
• Align scope, sequencing, and technical approach with Product Management and deliver realistic, transparent plans.
• Design and implement CI/CD processes to deliver applications to production and foster continuous improvement.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture/design reviews and code reviews for quality standards.
• Perform Technology Alternate Assessments and create Proofs-of-Concept to inform decisions.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Platform Engineering during development, launch, and iteration.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Work with teams across geographic locations to ensure coordinated engineering execution.
• Communicate status, risks, and dependencies to leadership on a regular cadence.
• Maintain deep hands-on technical knowledge by tracking industry trends.

• Leading the development effort for cloud‑native applications across the Caching Solutions and Rewards System teams, ensuring timely execution against committed business outcomes.
• Driving business commitments by aligning scope, sequencing, and technical approach with Product Management, and ensuring delivery plans are realistic, transparent, and measurable.
• Designing and implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to deliver applications to production, fostering a culture of continuous process improvement.
• Providing hands‑on technical leadership through architecture/design reviews, code reviews, and guidance to engineers to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
• Performing Technology Alternate Assessments and create Proofs‑of‑Concept (as necessary) to validate options and inform technical decisions.
• Working collaboratively with Product Management and Platform Engineering teams during development, launch, and continuing refinement of products iteratively.
• Collaborating with internal technical resources and third‑party vendors to resolve issues, understanding underlying causes, and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Working with team members to design, architect, and implement solutions across geographic locations, ensuring effective coordination and consistent engineering execution.
• Coordinating and communicating status across stakeholders, and reporting delivery progress, risks, and dependency needs to leadership on a regular cadence.
• Maintaining deep hands‑on technical knowledge by evaluating trends in modern software development practices; continuously learn and stay at the leading edge of industry trends.

What you already have...

• Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of system engineering experience, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of skilled system engineering experience.
• 8+ years of Strong hands‑on development experience in Java and Spring Boot for building enterprise‑grade services.
• 5+ years of Proven expertise in designing and implementing cloud‑native applications using a microservices‑based architecture.
• Solid knowledge of event streaming and processing patterns using Kafka.
• Experience deploying and operating applications on cloud platforms such as AWS and PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry).
• Strong understanding of data storage and caching concepts and implementations using GemFire, Redis & Elastic cache.
• 5+ years of Working knowledge of database design and persistence using MySQL, Aurora SQL & no SQL.
