Job summary

Max Healthcare in Delhi is seeking Consultant / Head of Department – Anaesthesia to lead anaesthesia services for elective and emergency surgeries. The role requires overseeing pre-anaesthetic evaluation, plan formulation, intra-operative management and post-operative care with emphasis on patient safety and quality protocols.

The position involves supervising junior staff, participating in CMEs and audits, and handling night shifts and emergency calls as per the departmental roster.

Qualifications

• MBBS from a recognized institution.
• MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology from a recognized university.
• Valid National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council registration.

Responsibilities

• Administer general, regional, and local anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgical procedures.
• Conduct pre-anaesthetic evaluation and formulate anaesthesia plans.
• Monitor patients intra-operatively and manage anaesthesia-related complications.
• Provide post-operative care, including pain management and patient monitoring.
• Manage critically ill patients in ICU and emergency settings as required.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including trauma and code blue calls.
• Assist consultants in complex surgical procedures and high-risk cases.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and anaesthesia records.
• Ensure adherence to NABH, infection control, patient safety, and quality protocols.
• Participate in departmental academic activities, CMEs, audits, and clinical meetings.
• Supervise and guide junior residents, interns, and nursing staff when required.
• Perform duties as per the departmental roster, including night shifts, weekends, and emergency calls.
• Strong clinical knowledge of anaesthesia and critical care.
• Excellent patient assessment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Commitment to ethical medical practice and patient safety.
