Job summary

MHC in Delhi seeks Consultant / Head of Department – Anaesthesia to lead clinical care across elective and emergency surgeries, supervise residents and nursing staff, and ensure NABH-compliant patient safety standards.

The role requires MBBS and MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology with valid NMC/State registration, and a strong track record in perioperative care, ICU management, and clinical documentation. Night shifts, weekend duty, and emergencies are expected as part of the roster.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administer general, regional, and local anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgical procedures.
• Conduct pre-anaesthetic evaluation and formulate anaesthesia plans.
• Monitor patients intra-operatively and manage anaesthesia-related complications.
• Provide post-operative care, including pain management and patient monitoring.
• Manage critically ill patients in ICU and emergency settings as required.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including trauma and code blue calls.
• Assist consultants in complex surgical procedures and high-risk cases.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and anaesthesia records.
• Ensure adherence to NABH, infection control, patient safety, and quality protocols.
• Participate in departmental academic activities, CMEs, audits, and clinical meetings.
• Supervise and guide junior residents, interns, and nursing staff when required.
• Perform duties as per the departmental roster, including night shifts, weekends, and emergency calls.
• Strong clinical knowledge of anaesthesia and critical care.
• Excellent patient assessment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
