Job summary

Brose Group in India (Maharashtra) seeks an Application Software Engineer – Motor Control to develop embedded software for automotive motor control systems such as Engine Cooling Fans, HVAC blowers, vehicle control units and traction drives.

The role requires hands-on experience with control algorithms for motor, PWM, CAN/LIN/SPI communications, MISRA C coding and signal processing, and collaboration with electronics teams to deliver robust software.

Qualifications

• Degree in electronics/electrical engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years experience in embedded motor control software.
• Strong knowledge of motor control algorithms and embedded C/C++.
• Familiarity with safety standards (MISRA C) and automotive protocols.

Responsibilities

Your Tasks

• The Application Software Engineer – Motor Control is responsible for implementation of embedded software for automotive motor control systems such as Engine Cooling Fans, HVAC blowers, Vehicle Control Unit and Traction drives. This role requires strong knowledge of Control Algorithms for motor, Customer Interface & User Logic, Diagnostic Functions, Communication Protocols (e.g. PWM, LIN, CAN, SPI) and Controller Peripherals (e.g. timers, ADCs, counter).
• Architecture & Design: Concept and design of software architecture in coordination with the electronics development team. Knowledge of architecture tools used in automotive development like Enterprise Architect.
• Motor Control Algorithms: Strong knowledge of control algorithm such as Field Oriented Control (FOC); PWM generation; Torque/Speed Control loops; Current / Power Control; Sensor-less estimation techniques (Kalman Filter, Observers).
• Embedded Software Development: Knowledge of platform development includes Hardware abstraction layers; Motor drivers, timers, ADCs, interrupts; Communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, SPI); Implementation and test of software components; Analysis of customer requirements for software;
• Target microcontrollers (Infineon, NXP, Renesas, TI). Review C/C++ code for quality, MISRA compliance and performance.
• Standards & Safety: Knowledge of automotive standards and safety includes ISO 26262 Functional Safety; ASPICE Level 2/3; MISRA C Guidelines; Cybersecurity (ISO 21434). Support safety analyses (HARA, QSA, DFA, FTA and FMEA).

Your Profile

• Graduate / Post-graduate degree (e.g. Electronics, Electrical, Power Electronics, Instrumentation).
• Experience: 3-5 Years.
• Working experience of Modulation Techniques like Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM), Harmonic Injection, Field Weakening, Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) etc.
• Working experience of Control Systems Strategies e.g. P, PI, PID.
• Working experience of 3-phase Current Measurement and reconstruction using Single Shunt method.
• Working experience of Fourier Transformation, Laplace Transformation and Transfer Functions and State Space.
• Working experience with microcontrollers like NXP S12Z, Infineon TLE987x, S32K1/K3 and Gate drivers like Infineon TLE9180, Texas Instrument DRV3256, DRV8363, UCC27712, UCC21530.
