Job Description
Asst Resident Engineer shall provide qualitative technical and administrative services for the implementation and management of the construction of the fisheries harbour project, overseeing the overall performance of the supervision team for the entire project.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Authority with the review of the contractors’ securities, insurance and safety plans.
- Scrutinize the contractor’s work programme and scheme for the deployment of plant, equipment and machinery for approval of the General Manager (Operations).
- Assist the Authority/Chief Engineer (Civil) in interpreting provisions in the contract documents and technical specifications.
- Assist the Authority/Chief Engineer (Civil) in handing over the site and issuing orders to commence the works.
- Liaison with local authorities for shifting of utilities wherever required.
- Regular supervision of works and evolve and implement quantity and quality control procedures, evolving criteria for the acceptance of works.
- Prepare and issue variation orders after the approval of the Authority.
- Assist the Authority in evaluating the contractor’s claims.
- Verify and certify contractor’s interim certificates and bills for approval of the Engineer–in–charge of the project.
- Assist the Chief Engineer (Civil) in monitoring physical and financial progress of the works.
- Prepare quarterly project budgets and estimates.
- Assist NMPT in conducting monthly progress meetings.
- Compile monthly progress reports and prepare quarterly reports.
- Strictly monitor the progress of work for timely completion of the project.
- Verify and certify contractor's statements at completion.
- Prepare the Project Completion Report.
- Schedule time and manage the team’s resources.
- Advise the Authority/Chief Engineer (Civil) on all matters related to the progress of works, particularly delays, possible reasons and mitigating measures.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 10 years of experience in the port sector.
- Led teams in PMC work for not less than 3 fishing harbour/port sector projects, which included breakwaters, berths, jetties, quays, dredging, reclamation and other civil works.
