Job summary

Clarivate is seeking an Associate STEM Content Analyst for the Abstraction team in Chennai. You will work on Derwent products with a large team of scientists and engineers, applying domain knowledge in chemistry to prepare patent abstracts and editorial summaries.

The role supports content enrichment and requires accuracy in summarizing uses, features, and advantages of inventions, using Clarivate tools and established policies. Office hours are full-time IST, with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduate in MSc Chemistry with good understanding of patents.
• Fresher or up to 1 year of experience in content abstraction or editing.
• Strong domain knowledge in chemistry and related technology fields.

Responsibilities

• Prepare abstracts for patents per DWPI policy.
• Analyze patents to provide editorially enhanced technical summaries.
• Capture insights from patent data to generate editorially enhanced patent records.

About You

• Should be a graduate in MSc Chemistry (General, Organic, Inorganic, Physical & Analytical, MSc Polymer Science) with good understanding of patents, ideally from Noida location.
• Can be a fresher (preferred) or a talent with one year of experience in content abstraction or editing.
• Must have strong domain knowledge in chemistry and related technology fields.

• Extensive knowledge about patents and drafting
• Great English comprehension skills

What will you be doing in this role?

• Prepare abstract for patents in accordance with set rules defined in DWPI Abstracting policy document.
• Perform detailed analysis of patents to provide accurate and editorially enhanced technical information of the patents in the form of summary that includes descriptive title, uses, novel features, advantages, and other key information related to the invention.
• You will be capturing useful insights from the patent data to generate editorially enhanced technical summary of patent records.
• To perform the above functions you will be using Clarivate specific tools for content editing, abstraction and curation.

About The Team

Abstraction Team in IP Operations is responsible for the enrichment and curation of high-quality content sets, while adhering to individual and team goals, production targets, and defined quality standards. We analyze patents to create and deliver value-added content that enhances the research value to Patent Intelligence products and customers of Clarivate.

Hours of Work (Permanent role)

Full-time – 9 am to 6 pm IST and some colleagues work from the rest of the world (UK, USA)
