The role requires deep knowledge of geometric design standards, safety principles, and project coordination, with proficiency in Civil 3D and Open Roads, and exposure to BIM

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of road/highway design experience.
• Significant international project exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design of urban roads, expressways, arterials, and interchanges.
• Ensure designs comply with international standards (AASHTO, EuroCodes, DMRB, Austroads).
• Review, validate, and approve design documentation and reports.
• Mentor junior engineers on software and design techniques.
• Support tender submissions, feasibility studies, and value engineering.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead highway Designer to oversee and manage the design of road and highway infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of technical experience, including significant international project exposure, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams. This role requires deep knowledge of geometric design standards, safety principles, project coordination, and the ability to deliver high‑quality design outputs within schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership

• Lead the end-to-end design of urban roads, expressways, arterials, and interchanges.
• Ensure designs comply with international standards (AASHTO, EuroCodes, DMRB, Austroads, etc.).
• Review, validate, and approve design documentation, drawings, and technical reports.
• Mentoring to junior engineers on software and design techniques.

Technical Expertise

• Conduct detailed horizontal and vertical alignment design.
• Cross section optimisation, BOQ preparation, pavement design coordination, and ROW optimization.
• Integrate design elements with drainage, utilities, structures, making grading Plan.
• Ensure compliance with road safety audits and design for safety principles.
• Ensure adherence to company design standards and client requirements.
• Implement quality checks, design reviews, and cross-discipline coordination.
• Support tender submissions, feasibility studies, and value engineering exercises.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience

• 10+ years of road/highway design experience.
• Demonstrated international project experience in the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia, or Africa.
• Proven track record of delivering complex road infrastructure projects.

Skills

• Strong understanding of roadway geometric design principles.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding design teams.
• Ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously.

Software & Tools

• Proficiency in design tools either one from below-

Civil 3D –

(Corridor Modelling, Template creation, Integrated grading plan)

Open Roads -

(Corridor Modelling, Template creation, Integrated grading plan)

Exposure to BIM platforms (preferred)

• Experience with cloud collaboration tools (ProjectWise, BIM360, Bentley CONNECT).
