Responsibilities

• Liaise with editors at other journals and researchers in the field.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions.
• Commission content such as Reviews, Perspectives, and Comment articles.
• Write content including Research Highlights and Editorials.
• Launch Collections on topics of strategic interest and contribute to journal strategy and policies.

About the position

Communications Materials is recruiting an Associate or Senior Editor to handle submissions related to materials for devices. Possible areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, electronic and optoelectronic devices, solar cells, 2D material devices, memristors, biomedical devices, sensors etc. As such, the candidate will be expected to handle a wide range of topics, well beyond their immediate expertise.

Responsibilities

• Handling original research papers and overseeing the editorial process, including manuscript selection and peer review.
• Making well-reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice.
• Engaging with an external Editorial Board and assisting with recruitment and training of new members.
• Liaising with editors at other journals and experts in the scientific community.
• Attending conferences and visiting research institutions.
• Commissioning content such as Reviews, Perspectives, and Comment articles.
• Writing content including Research Highlights and Editorials.
• Launching Collections in topics of strategic interest to the journal.
• Contributing to journal strategy and editorial policies.

Requirements

• Research experience to PhD level (or equivalent) in any topic related to Materials for devices.

• Ability to assess the novelty and implications of research from different disciplines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English (written and spoken).
