Job summary

Springer Nature’s Communications Materials is recruiting an Associate or Senior Editor to handle submissions related to materials for devices, including electronic and optoelectronic devices, solar cells, 2D materials, memristors, biomedical devices and sensors.

You will manage the editorial process, make decisions, engage with the scientific community, and work with Editorial Board Members in a hybrid role that suits those passionate about science communication and editorial work.

Qualifications

• PhD-level research experience in materials for devices or related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.

Responsibilities

About The Position

Communications Materials is recruiting an Associate or Senior Editor to handle submissions related to materials for devices. Possible areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, electronic and optoelectronic devices, solar cells, 2D material devices, memristors, biomedical devices, sensors etc. As such, the candidate will be expected to handle a wide range of topics, well beyond their immediate expertise.

The candidate will be a key member of the editorial team, responsible for publishing quality research in their subject areas. This role involves managing the editorial process, making editorial decisions, engaging with the scientific community to enhance the journal's impact, and working alongside Editorial Board Members. The position offers a hybrid working model and is suited for individuals passionate about science communication and editorial work.

Responsibilities

• Engaging with an external Editorial Board and assisting with recruitment and training of new members.

Requirements

• Research experience to PhD level (or equivalent) in any topic related to Materials for devices.
• A passion for science and a desire to learn more about various scientific fields.
• Ability to assess the novelty and implications of research from different disciplines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Desire to meet scientists worldwide and help them understand the publication process.
• Ability to multi-task and work to deadlines.
