Job summary

Eaton Corporation's Product Stewardship & Sustainability CoE seeks an Associate Engineer passionate about environmental accounting and sustainability, supporting NPI and regulatory compliance for ARS Electrical.

You will coordinate with Engineering, SCM and Quality, collect material declarations, perform substance screening, maintain records, and help communicate sustainability requirements to teams and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Environmental science or Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics engineering.
• 0-3 years’ experience in sustainability domain, product or technology development.
• Strong understanding of engineering, science, and arithmetic concepts.
• Knowledge of sustainability regulations - WEEE, EPR, REACH, RoHS, CP65, TSCA, POP, ODS.
• Experience with eco-design regulations (ErP) and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficient in data handling and MS Office.
• Hands-on experience with Excel Macros, Python, Power BI/Power Automate.

Responsibilities

• Execute product compliance assessment across RoHS, REACH, ODS, POP, CP-65, TSCA.
• Support end-to-end Compliance Management process.
• Coordinate with Engineering, SCM, Quality and other stakeholders.
• Collect, validate, and maintain material declarations through supplier campaigns.
• Perform substance screening and threshold analysis.
• Maintain compliance records in internal PLM / compliance tools.
• Follow workflows and meet compliance timelines.
• Support preparation of customer compliance declarations and regulatory responses.
• Support Product Stewardship in NPI focusing on Ecodesign, ErP and compliance.
• Evaluate compliance under eco-design regulations (EU-ErP Directive).
• Understand customer requirements and communicate to Eaton teams.
• Provide regular reports on development and support activities.
• Interact with key customers/stakeholders on sustainability trends.
• Contribute to continuous process improvements.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s Product Stewardship & Sustinability CoE is looking for highly motivated individuals who is passionate about environmental accounting and has strong inclination towards Sustainability domain. The Associate Engineer will be supporting New Product Introduction and compliance (climate and environmental regulations) for Eaton’s ARS Electrical Business. This work will help business to address customer requests, address regulatory challenges and create sustainability value propositions to gain additional business opportunities.

Job Description:

• Responsible for executing product compliance assessment across global regulations like RoHS, REACH, ODS, POP, CP-65, TSCA etc.
• Support the execution of end to end Compliance Management process-
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Engineering, SCM, Quality etc)
• Collect, validate, and maintain material declarations through supplier campaigns, supplier connects, portfolio analysis.
• Perform substance screening and threshold analysis
• Maintain compliance records in internal PLM / compliance tools
• Follow defined workflows and meet compliance timelines
• Support preparation of customer compliance declarations and regulatory responses
• Support deployment the Product Stewardship Workpackage in New Product Introduction focusing on Ecodesign, EPR and Product Stewardship Compliance
• Evaluate compliance in accordance with applicable eco-design related regulations (e.g. EU-ErP Directive)
• Understand customer requirements and communicate to other Eaton teams, and act as the liaison for program activities as appropriate.
• Provide regular reports on development and support activities.
• Interact with key customers/stakeholders in understanding current & upcoming sustainability trends and their relevance to our products.
• Contribute to continuous process improvements to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Demonstrate curiosity and energy in studying upcoming regulatory requirements and communicates the findings to the team.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Enviornmental science or Chemical/Mechanical/ Electronics /Electricals engineering

1. Bachelors with 0-3 years’ experience in the areas of Sustainability domain, Product or technology development for Industrial, Electrical/Electronic or Chemical products or process.

Skills:

1. Strong understanding on basics of engineering, science, and arithmetic concepts – material, weight, volume, density, mass, units, and measurement methods, etc.
2. Has good knowledge & working experience on sustinability regulations - WEEE, EPR, REACH, RoHS, CP65, TSCA, POP, ODS etc
3. Understands requirements related to eco-design regulations (like ErP regulations) and work with product teams to ensure compliance while releasing new products.
4. Need to have sound fundamental engineering knowledge and electrical concepts.
5. Experience in supporting/leading projects with multiple stakeholders in matrix organization and strong project management experience is required.Energetic and willing to learn new areas and collaborating with local / global suppliers
6. Comfortable dealing with data and Microsoft office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
7. Hands on experience on digital tools such as- Excel Macros, Python, PowerBi/Power Automate has added advantage
8. Good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts.
