Deutsche Bank in Pune, India, seeks an Associate Engineer to design and implement IT platform solutions. You will develop Java/Spring Boot applications, build microservices, and ensure robust testing and deployment across cloud environments.

You will collaborate with vendors and act as SME in L3 support, incident analysis, and production handovers. The role requires 5+ years in Java development, cloud and container experience, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Java development experience with Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience with APIs and microservices (SOAP/REST/JSON).
• Hands-on cloud experience (GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Proficient in Agile/Scrum and related tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop engineering solutions for Germany cards team aligned to business goals.
• Translate requirements into technical designs and oversee implementation.
• Coordinate with vendors, support testing, and handover to production & L2.
• Ensure solutions align with platform modernization strategy.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert for L3 support and incident analysis.

• Building reliability and resiliency into solutions with appropriate testing and reviewing throughout the delivery lifecycle
• Ensuring maintainability and reusability of engineering solutions
• Ensuring solutions are well architected and can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow
• Reviewing engineering plans and quality to drive re-use and improve engineering capability
• Participating in industry forums to drive adoption of innovative technologies, tools and solutions in the Bank.

Your Key Responsibilities

• As part of the cards team for Germany, you will actively participate in the design and development of solutions aligned to business goals
• You will be translating the business and functional requirements into a technical solution design
• You will be managing the implementation, jointly together with our vendors, supporting the testing activities and ensure a handover into production and to the L2-Support.
• You will ensure, that the solution designs are aligned to our technical platform modernization strategy.
• To ensure a stable and maintainable production environment, you will be the Subject Mater Expert as part of the L3 Support.
• In case of incidents and business requests, you will be actively involved in the incident and request analysis and drive the problem resolution.

Your Skills And Experience

• Has Java solution design and development experience for at least 5 years
• Has Java Spring Boot development experience
• Has practical and applied knowledge of design patterns (and anti-patterns) in Java in general and Java Spring Boot specifically
• Hands on experience working with APIs and microservices, integrating external and internal web services including SOAP, XML, REST, JSON
• Hands on experience in Google Cloud Platform.
• Has experience with cloud development platform: Spring Cloud; OpenShift/ Kubernetes/Docker configuration and deployment with DevOps tools e.g; GIT, TeamCity, Maven, SONAR.
• Knowledge and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, Acceptance Test Driven Development, Behavior Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pair working, Automated Testing, Agile Games
• Has practical and applied knowledge of design patterns (and anti-patterns) in Java in general and Java Spring Boot specifically
• Familiar with Agile Team management tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• Pro‑active team player with good communication skills as well as good English language skills.
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM environment including agile tooling and methodology together with knowledge of cards.
• Bachelor's degree from a college or university with an focus on IT or data evaluation and / or comparable professional experience
