Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated invites applications for an Associate Engineer I - Mechanical Design in Chennai, India to support designing components for medium and high voltage switching equipment, ensuring reliability and implementing product/process improvements.

The role requires a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of mechanical design experience, with proficiency in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) and ASME Y14.5. Knowledge of SAP/PLM, Vault, and PDM tools is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Ability to create drawings based on ASME Y14.5 standard.
• Working knowledge in SAP ECM or PLM software.
• Hands-on experience in Autodesk Vault and SolidWorks PDM.
• Experience modeling and detailing structural steel, casting and sheet metal parts.
• Proficiency in analyzing and understanding structural drawings.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools.
• Experience with PTC Windchill is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with US counterparts to gather customer requirements and PO data for engineer-to-order designs.
• Design parts feasible for manufacturing processes (sheet metal, casting, plastics).
• Set targets and ensure drawings are accurate and timely.
• Create drawings, BOMs and assembly docs per standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during design and approval process.
• Manage Vault ECOs and SAP change management for production orders.
• Explain conceptual designs to customers; maintain clear verbal communication.
• Manage drawing schedules in a fast-paced environment.

Associate Engineer I - Mechanical Design

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer who can support designing engineering components for medium voltage and high voltage switching equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our existing products while implementing necessary product and process improvements and resolving any emerging issues.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.

Minimum of 3-5 years of mechanical design experience (required).

Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering concepts and knowledge in engineering materials.

Capability of using all the features of 2D & 3D engineering design using AutodeskAutoCAD, Inventor and SolidWorks.

Should have knowledge in creating drawings based on ASME Y14.5 standard.

Working knowledge in SAP ECM or any PLM software.

Hands-on experience in Autodesk Vault and SolidWorks PDM.

Hands-on experience in modeling and detailing structural steel, casting and sheet metal parts.

Proficient in analyzing and understanding structural engineering drawings.

Proficient in MS office tools.

Experience with PTC Windchill would be an added advantage.

Strong analytical skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
