Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies in Mumbai seeks a technical specialist in HSE/process safety engineering to contribute to larger, more complex assignments under supervision. You will interact with multiple disciplines and gain depth across projects.

Responsibilities include detailed design deliverables for firefighting and loss prevention, P&IDs checks, and coordinating third‑party studies. A B.Tech in Chemical/Mechanical with 5–8 years’ experience and NFPA/OISD/API knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• B.Tech in Chemical (Preferred) / Mechanical
• Post qualification 5-8 years of relevant experience is essential
• Knowledge of NFPA, OISD, IP, API, BS, DNV Class, ABS etc. is essential
• Bachelor's degree in engineering; 1 year minimum related work experience

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, scheduling and organizing projects related activities of HSE / Process Safety engineering
• Interface with other disciplines and issues regarding work interfaces with HSE Engineering
• Prepare detailed design deliverables for firefighting and loss prevention
• Check/prepare fire water P&IDs for ongoing projects/FEED package/proposals
• Fire Water network layout and related system design calculations
• Coordination and review of third-party studies (QRA, HAZID/HAZOP, SIL, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with software such as Aspen Hysys, Aspen Flarenet, AFT Fathom, PIPENET, DNV PHAST/SAFETI, DETECT 3D
• Electrical Hazardous area classification as per API, IEC, IP norms

Job Summary

Under general supervision and applying knowledge gained with experience, begins functioning as a technical specialist. Continues to build on experience and gain more in depth knowledge working on larger and more complex assignments. May start to expand knowledge into other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring, scheduling and organizing projects related activities of HSE / Process Safety engineering
• Interaction with all other disciplines and issues regarding interfaces of work related to various discipline with HSE Engineering activities
• Preparation of Detailed Design Deliverable of firefighting & loss prevention.
• Checking / Preparation of fire water P&IDs for the ongoing detailed engineering projects / FEED package / proposal etc.
• Fire Water network layout, Gas Detection System, Water Spray System, Sprinkler System, Fire Water Tank, Pump Calculation and fire water demand for firefighting. Fire water system water hammer / surge analysis.
• Coordination & Review of third-party studies like QRA Study, HAZID Study, HAZOP Study, SIL Study, F&G Detector Mapping and Noise Study for the upcoming projects.
• Hand on experience on software –Aspen Hysys, Aspen Flarenet, AFT Fathom & Impulse, PIPENET, DNV PHAST / SAFETI, DETECT 3D etc.
• Electrical Hazardous area classification as per API, IEC and IP norms for all the projects.
• Interaction and troubleshooting of various technical issues related to site with Clients, Project Management Consultancy, Licensor, Vendors, and Subcontractors and inter-department on various project related activities.

Preferred Qualifications

B.Tech in Chemical (Preferred) / Mechanical

Post qualification 5-8years of relevant experience is essential.

Knowledge on local and international design standards like NFPA, OISD, IP, API, BS, DNV Class, ABS etc., is essential.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
