Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Associate Engineer - HSE Design in Mumbai to lead HSE and process safety activities on large projects. You will coordinate across disciplines, prepare detailed firefighting design deliverables, and contribute to FEED and proposal work in a dynamic engineering team.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering with 1 year of experience, knowledge of NFPA, OISD, IP, API, BS, DNV standards, and hands-on software skills in Aspen Hysys, Flarenet, AFT, PIPENET,

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Minimum of 1 year related work experience. Willingness to relocate. On-site Mumbai-based role.
• Knowledge of local and international design standards like NFPA, OISD, IP, API, BS, DNV Class, ABS etc., is essential.
• Post qualification 5-8 years of relevant experience is essential (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, scheduling and organizing projects related activities of HSE / Process Safety engineering.
• Interaction with all other disciplines and interfaces of work related to various discipline with HSE Engineering activities.
• Preparation of Detailed Design Deliverables for firefighting and loss prevention.
• Checking/Preparation of fire water P&IDs for ongoing projects/ FEED/ proposals.
• Fire Water network layout, Gas Detection System, Water Spray System, Sprinkler System, Fire Water Tank, Pump calculations and water hammer analysis.
• Coordination & Review of third-party studies like QRA, HAZID/HAZOP, SIL, F&G Detector Mapping and Noise Study.
• Hands-on experience with software – Aspen Hysys, Aspen Flarenet, AFT Fathom & Impulse, PIPENET, DNV PHAST/ SAFETI, DETECT 3D.
• Electrical Hazardous area classification as per API, IEC and IP norms.
• Interaction and troubleshooting of technical issues with Clients, PMCs, Licensors, Vendors and Subcontractors.

Job Summary

Under general supervision and applying knowledge gained with experience, begins functioning as a technical specialist. Continues to build on experience and gain more in depth knowledge working on larger and more complex assignments. May start to expand knowledge into other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Hand on experience on software –Aspen Hysys, Aspen Flarenet, AFT Fathom & Impulse, PIPENET, DNV PHAST / SAFETI, DETECT 3D etc.
• Electrical Hazardous area classification as per API, IEC and IP norms for all the projects.
• Interaction and troubleshooting of various technical issues related to site with Clients, Project Management Consultancy, Licensor, Vendors, and Subcontractors and inter-department on various project related activities.

Preferred Qualifications

B.Tech In Chemical (Preferred) / Mechanical

Post qualification 5-8 years of relevant experience is essential.

Knowledge on local and international design standards like NFPA, OISD, IP, API, BS, DNV Class, ABS etc., is essential.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
