Job description

Job Description
OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE

We are seeking an Associate Director to lead the GCC Commercial Insights & Analytics (I&A) teams supporting a US business unit (USBU) within Takeda. This is a hands‑on people‑leadership role accountable for the quality, consistency, and business impact of all analytics delivered. Both Managers and Analysts report into this role. The Associate Director coaches and guides the team through their day‑to‑day work, ensures accountabilities for all deliverables, owns the analytics relationship with US I&A leadership, and remains willing and able to be hands‑on in the analysis when the situation requires.

  • Own end-to-end analytics delivery, ensuring high-quality, on‑time delivery of brand and portfolio analytics while holding the team accountable for every deliverable.
  • Lead a team of both Managers and Analysts — coaching and guiding them through their work, reviewing outputs, unblocking issues, and stepping in hands‑on on complex or high‑visibility analyses when required.
  • Serve as the senior GCC analytics partner to US I&A leadership, owning demand intake, prioritization, delivery governance, and executive communication.
  • Govern the operating model and ways of working, ensuring consistency, rigor, and predictable delivery across teams.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
BU Delivery Oversight & Quality Governance
  • Own the quality, timeliness, and commercial relevance of all analytics delivered — performance reporting, HCP targeting and segmentation, patient opportunity assessments, launch readiness analytics, and complex ad hoc deep dives across the BUs' brands.
  • Set and enforce analytical standards and review frameworks, ensuring consistent methodological rigor, data accuracy, narrative quality, and stakeholder readiness before US review; be hands‑on to arbitrate or execute the most complex analyses when needed.
  • Balance capacity and prioritization, resolving contention and reallocating effort to protect the highest‑value, highest‑urgency deliverables.
Stakeholder Management & Operating-Model Governance
  • Act as the senior point of contact for US I&A leadership, managing demand intake, setting and meeting delivery commitments, and proactively communicating status, risks, and trade‑offs.
  • Represent GCC analytics in the BUs' US I&A planning sessions, quarterly business reviews, and cross‑functional analytics forums, ensuring GCC contributions are visible, trusted, and commercially relevant.
  • Establish and continuously improve the operating model between the GCC teams and their US I&A counterparts — intake, prioritization, SLAs, escalation paths, and communication norms — and drive adoption.
People Leadership, Coaching & Accountability
  • Lead a team of 4-6 direct reports spanning Managers and Analysts, with indirect oversight of the broader analyst population; set clear goals, conduct regular one‑on‑ones, provide substantive feedback, and build individualized development plans.
  • Coach and guide the team through their work — shaping analytical approach, reviewing deliverables, and developing problem‑solving and stakeholder skills — while holding every team member accountable for the quality and timeliness of their output.
  • Develop Managers into stronger people leaders, coaching them on delivery governance, stakeholder management, and team development, and building leadership bench strength.
  • Own workforce planning, hiring, and talent development for analytics teams, including interview‑panel leadership, onboarding, performance management, and retention of critical talent.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Champion automation and efficiency across recurring reporting workflows, sponsoring SQL- and Python‑based pipelines and dashboard automation that reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
  • Rationalize the reporting portfolio on a regular basis, consolidating, automating, or retiring deliverables in alignment with evolving brand‑team priorities.
  • Lead Build‑Operate‑Transfer (BOT), insourcing, and transition initiatives for the BU, standing up and stabilizing new analytics workstreams within the GCC while sustaining delivery quality.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree required in Statistics, Data Science, Life Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree (Master's or MBA) in Analytics, Data Science, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
Experience:
  • 12-15 years of progressive experience in US pharmaceutical commercial analytics, including substantial people‑leadership experience managing both managers and analysts across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of owning end‑to‑end analytics delivery for multiple business units, driving accountability across teams, and remaining hands‑on in the analysis when required.
  • Deep knowledge of US pharma commercial datasets: patient‑level claims (IQVIA, Komodo Health, Symphony Health), specialty pharmacy (867), EMR, sales data, and access/payer data is required.
  • Strong hands‑on proficiency in coding techniques such as SQL, SAS, R, or Python for data manipulation and workflow automation; advanced Excel required.
  • Strong experience with Tableau or Power BI for performance, launch, and brand analytics dashboard development; experience with Databricks or cloud‑based analytics environments is preferred.
  • Proven experience leading Build‑Operate‑Transfer (BOT), insourcing, or transition initiatives in a GCC, captive, or offshore delivery model supporting US/Global stakeholders is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple high‑priority workstreams simultaneously in a fast‑paced, cross‑cultural, matrixed environment.
Skills & Competencies:
  • People Leadership & Coaching — Leads a team of Managers and Analysts; coaches and guides through the work and holds everyone accountable for quality and timeliness.
  • Multi‑BU Delivery Ownership — Owns end‑to‑end delivery and quality for US business units — demand, prioritization, quality standards, and delivery health.
  • Hands‑On Analytical Depth — Willing and able to step into complex or high‑visibility analyses directly; sets the technical bar by example.
  • Operating-Model Governance — Governs intake, prioritization, quality standards, and ways of working consistently across teams.
  • Advanced US Pharma Analytics — Deep proficiency in US commercial data and statistical methods; critically reviews complex analyses with sound methodological judgment.
  • Senior Stakeholder Partnership — Builds trusted relationships with US I&A leadership; communicates proactively and manages expectations credibly.
  • Data Storytelling — Distils complex multi-source findings into compelling, decision‑oriented narratives with clear business implications.
  • Cross‑Cultural Communication — Fluent communicator across India-US time zones and organizational levels; adapts style for technical and commercial audiences.
Intangible Skills:
  • Curiosity
  • Confidence
  • Reflective
  • High risk tolerance
  • Organized
  • High command of written and spoken English fluency
TAKEDA LEADERSHIP BEHAVIORS
  • Act with Integrity — Deliver accurate, transparent work and take full responsibility for quality.
  • Collaborate Cross‑Functionally — Contribute positively to GCC-US team workflows and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Drive Accountability — Take ownership of all assigned tasks and deliver on commitments.
  • Embrace Learning — Continuously build analytical and domain capabilities through feedback and self‑driven development.
