Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis on climate change related issues.
  • Support development of climate adaptation projects.
  • Engage with government and community representatives.
  • Engage with government departments, civil society, academic institutions, and community representatives to enable evidence-based decision-making.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to communities, businesses, and institutions to enhance resilience.
  • Contribute to writing reports, policy briefs, and other communication materials to support fundraising and advocacy efforts.
  • Track emerging trends in climate adaptation, resilience finance, climate technology, and policy developments.
  • Represent CEED at consultations, workshops, and public forums, strengthening partnerships and visibility.

Job Description

CEED is seeking motivated and dynamic professionals to join our team as Associate- Climate Adaptation & Resilience. The Associates will play a central role in designing, implementing, and supporting CEED’s initiatives to strengthen climate resilience and adaptive capacities in vulnerable regions of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and neighbouring Eastern Indian states. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that address the most pressing environmental issues of our time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analysis on climate change related issues, policies, trends, and best practices at state, national, and international levels.
  • Support the development and rollout of climate adaptation and resilience projects, including community-based adaptation and risk-informed development strategies.
  • Assess climate resilience, vulnerability, impacts and derive adaptation strategies at various levels (local, state and national).
  • Engage with government departments, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and community representatives to enable evidence-based decision-making and strengthen climate resilience planning.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to communities, businesses, and institutions to enhance resilience to climate impacts and vulnerabilities.
  • Contribute to the writing of reports, policy briefs, and other communication materials to support fundraising and advocacy efforts.
  • Track emerging trends in climate adaptation, resilience finance, climate technology, and national/state-level policies to inform CEED’s programs.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in environmental science, Climate Studies, Sustainability, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in climate change mitigation, adaptation, resilience, or related areas.
  • Strong understanding of climate science, policy frameworks, and international agreements such as the Paris Agreement.
  • Experience in conducting research, data analysis, and preparing reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and build relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Knowledge of GIS, statistical analysis like R, Stata, SPSS, etc., or other technical tools is desirable.
  • Commitment to CEED’s mission and values, including a dedication to environmental sustainability and social justice.
