Job summary

Bain & Company in India (Delhi) is seeking an Associate AI Engineer to design and deploy agentic AI systems for Retail clients, building multi-agent workflows and production-ready APIs.

You will work with LangGraph, LangChain, Azure AI Agent Service, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms to deliver robust AI solutions. Strong Python, FastAPI, SQL, Pandas, PySpark skills are required, with exposure to consulting projects a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in AI engineering, software development, and building production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience designing agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows using LangGraph, LangChain, or Azure AI Agent Service.
• Experience developing LLM-powered applications and RAG pipelines with vector databases.
• Proficiency in Python and backend APIs (FastAPI) to serve models in production.
• Strong prompt engineering, model evaluation, guardrails, and responsible-AI practices.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms (Azure, GCP or AWS), and Git.
• Expertise in Pandas, SQL, or PySpark for large datasets.
• Exposure to SQL (Azure, PostgreSQL or Snowflake) and Azure resources like Redis and Blob Storage.
• Nice-to-have: consulting projects or Retail domain, frontend (React/NextJS).

Who You’ll Work With

The Retail Center of Expertise collaborates with Bain’s global Retail Practice leadership, client-facing Bain leadership and teams, and with end clients on development and delivery of Bain’s proprietary Retail products and solutions. These solutions aim to answer strategic questions of Bain’s Retail clients relating to category management, COGS optimization, pricing & promotion analytics and customer analytics. You will work as part of the team in Retail CoE comprising of a mix of Director, Managers, Projects Leads, Associates and Analysts on projects ranging from 3 weeks to 6 months. Delivery models on projects vary from working as part of a broader global Bain case team, working independently with a Bain Associate Partner / Partner, or working directly with end clients.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems and LLM-powered applications that automate complex analytical and business workflows for Retail clients.
• Develop and orchestrate multi-agent workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, and the Azure AI Agent Service—integrating tools, memory, and reasoning loops.
• Build and optimize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, combining vector search with Neo4j knowledge graphs and graph databases.
• Engineer, evaluate, and fine-tune prompts and LLMs, implementing guardrails, evaluation harnesses, and human-in-the-loop feedback for accuracy and safety.
• Develop backend APIs and services (Python, FastAPI) to serve AI models and agents into production applications.
• Build pipelines using Docker, CI/CD, and Git for continuous deployment on cloud platforms (Azure / GCP/ AWS).
• Implement observability, logging, and evaluation to monitor model quality, latency, and drift of agentic systems in production.
• Develop complex data transformation queries and workflows using SQL, Pandas, or PySpark to process and manipulate large-scale datasets.
• Collaborate with product managers, software developers, and consulting teams to translate business problems into robust, scalable AI solutions.

The Associate is expected to have a knack for seeking out challenging problems and producing their own ideas, which they will be encouraged to brainstorm with their peers and managers. They should be willing to learn new techniques and be open to solving problems with an interdisciplinary approach. They must have excellent coding skills and should demonstrate a willingness to write modular, reusable, and functional code

About You

• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms (Azure, GCP or AWS), and Git/GitHub
• Expertise in data transformation and manipulation using Pandas, SQL, or PySpark, with experience handling large- scale datasets.
• Exposure to SQL (Azure, PostgreSQL or Snowflake) and Azure resources such as Redis and Blob Storage.
• Good-to-have: prior exposure to consulting projects or the Retail business domain.
• Good-to-have: prior exposure to frontend development (React/NextJS)
