Job summary

Bain & Company in India seeks an Associate to design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows for the Retail Center of Expertise. You will collaborate with global Bain teams and end clients to translate business problems into robust AI solutions.

You have 2–4 years of AI engineering experience, strong Python, FastAPI, Docker, and cloud skills, plus expertise with LangGraph/LangChain, RAG pipelines, and data processing with Pandas and PySpark.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in AI engineering, software development, and building and deploying production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience designing agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows using LangGraph, LangChain, or Azure AI Agent Service.
• Experience developing LLM-powered applications and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with vector databases and embedding-based retrieval.
• Proficiency in Python and building backend APIs (FastAPI) to serve models and agents in production.
• Solid grasp of prompt engineering, model evaluation, guardrails, and responsible-AI practices.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms (Azure, GCP or AWS), and Git/GitHub
• Expertise in data transformation and manipulation using Pandas, SQL, or PySpark, with experience handling large-scale datasets.
• Exposure to SQL (Azure, PostgreSQL or Snowflake) and Azure resources such as Redis and Blob Storage.
• Good-to-have: prior exposure to consulting projects or the Retail business domain.
• Good-to-have: prior exposure to frontend development (React/NextJS)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems and LLM-powered applications that automate complex analytical and business workflows for Retail clients.
• Develop and orchestrate multi-agent workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, and the Azure AI Agent Service—integrating tools, memory, and reasoning loops.
• Build and optimize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, combining vector search with Neo4j knowledge graphs and graph databases.
• Engineer, evaluate, and fine-tune prompts and LLMs, implementing guardrails, evaluation harnesses, and human-in-the-loop feedback for accuracy and safety.
• Develop backend APIs and services (Python, FastAPI) to serve AI models and agents into production applications.
• Build pipelines using Docker, CI/CD, and Git for continuous deployment on cloud platforms (Azure / GCP/ AWS).
• Implement observability, logging, and evaluation to monitor model quality, latency, and drift of agentic systems in production.
• Develop complex data transformation queries and workflows using SQL, Pandas, or PySpark to process and manipulate large-scale datasets.
• Collaborate with product managers, software developers, and consulting teams to translate business problems into robust, scalable AI solutions.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:

The Retail Center of Expertise collaborates with Bain’s global Retail Practice leadership, client-facing Bain leadership and teams, and with end clients on development and delivery of Bain’s proprietary Retail products and solutions. These solutions aim to answer strategic questions of Bain’s Retail clients relating to category management, COGS optimization, pricing & promotion analytics and customer analytics. You will work as part of the team in Retail CoE comprising of a mix of Director, Managers, Projects Leads, Associates and Analysts on projects ranging from 3 weeks to 6 months. Delivery models on projects vary from working as part of a broader global Bain case team, working independently with a Bain Associate Partner / Partner, or working directly with end clients.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

ABOUT YOU:
