Job summary

Fidelity International in Gurgaon, India, is seeking an experienced Investment Compliance Specialist to review and advise on investment guidelines for institutional and retail products. You will investigate post-trade violations, classify breaches, and coordinate with Portfolio Managers to resolve fund-level issues.

The role requires 6+ years in investment management with strong knowledge of portfolio monitoring, regulatory requirements (UCITS/SICAV/MPF/1940 Act), and English communication.

Qualifications

  • Investment compliance guideline monitoring experience is a must.
  • Familiarity with UCITS, SICAV, MPF and Investment Company Act 1940 requirements would be an added advantage.

About your team

The Portfolio Control & Monitoring team is a global function is part of FIL’s Global Investment Compliance team, with teams present in Hong Kong, United Kingdom and Gurgaon. The team is primarily responsible for performing End of Day (“EOD”) portfolio compliance monitoring for all retail and institutional products globally managed by FIL as well as coding portfolio restrictions and investment guidelines in compliance monitoring system. The Portfolio Monitoring team also provides compliance guidance and support to FIL’s investment professionals, including Portfolio Managers across all asset classes, Portfolio Support Groups, Investment Risk and Portfolio Analytics teams. In relation to its portfolio compliance monitoring responsibilities, the team also engages with FIL’s institutional services and product management teams and other support functions, including local compliance officers, legal and investment services globally.

GC Shared Services

The General Counsel Shared services function is a global centre of expertise currently being built out in Dalian and India. It will provide operational support and services to the General Counsel function. Three key verticals of GC shared services are:

  • Reporting and Systems- Central hub in GC for all reporting and systems related activities.
  • Operations - This is bouquet of various service offering for GC like Traiinng Admin, support in Europe compliance, information barriers, legal and co sec ops.
  • Investment Compliance- Compliance team in India provides effective monitoring of FIL’s funds to ensure compliance with funds’ mandates and regulatory rules in verticals like Portfolio Control & Monitoring, Investment Management Compliance Advisory and Investment Management Compliance Monitoring.
About your role
  • Support the Global Investment Compliance Team by reviewing, analysing, and advising on investment guidelines for FIL’s institutional and retail products.
  • Investigate and resolve post-trade violations, including root-cause analysis of daily compliance alerts and warnings.
  • Classify compliance breaches (e.g. Active vs. Passive breaches), report breaches to relevant stakeholders, and track resolution in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional reviews of regulatory breaches, including those relating to UCITS, SICAV, MPF and Investment Company Act of 1940 (’40 Act) requirements.
  • Coordinate with Portfolio Managers and Investment Specialists to investigate and resolve fund-level breaches.
  • Execute manual compliance monitoring activities for items not supported by automated systems (e.g. CRD), including manual test execution as per defined periodicity.
  • Continuously enhance compliance monitoring by reducing false positives, improving automated monitoring, and performing testing to ensure system changes operate as intended.
  • Liaise with Investment Compliance colleagues globally to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of investment restrictions within compliance systems; this may involve engagement with Client Services, Relationship Directors, Legal, Product, and Client Service Group teams.
  • Assist with client certifications and attestations, including data validation and response coordination.
  • Research and respond to ad-hoc queries raised by various stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation to evidence reviews performed and to demonstrate robust processes and controls for monitoring and breach management.
  • Support ongoing review and enhancement of compliance processes, systems, and procedures to ensure best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to FIL-wide, regional, and local projects and initiatives as required.
About you
  • Investment compliance guideline monitoring experience is a must and familiarity with rule coding experience is preferred;
  • Experience with regulatory environments such as UCITS, SICAV, MPF and Investment Company Act of 1940 requirements would be an added advantage;
  • Strong understanding of portfolio monitoring processes, including the interpretation of client investment management agreements;
  • 6+ years of experience in working in the investment management industry (preferably in investment compliance) and of investment products;
  • Good instrument knowledge of Equities, Fixed income and Derivatives;
  • Effective problem solver, attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure;
  • CFA, FRM or Bachelor of Business or Commerce preferred;
  • Business-level verbal and written English communication / presentation skills;
  • Positive team player as well as the ability to work on their own initiative;
  • Strong self-motivation, organisation, prioritisation, time management, used to adapting to unforeseen changes.
