Job Description Assistant Manager (NDT Expert)

Responsible for Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspections of composite wind turbine blades and critical components to ensure product quality, defect detection, and process improvement. The role also supports RCA activities, technology projects, equipment management, and NDT team development.

Key Responsibilities

1. NDT Inspection (80%)

• Perform UT inspections of blades, shear webs, girders, root inserts, bond lines, and carbon components.
• Conduct inspections for RCA activities on-ground and uptower.
• Support test blade inspections and provide technical feedback to R&D teams.
• Inspect and qualify carbon main girders (SB63/SB65).
• Analyze scan data, identify defects, and prepare inspection reports.
• Optimize inspection procedures and train NDT inspectors.

2. Technology & Process Support (10%)

• Support projects related to gel-coating inspections and one-go blade closure validation.
• Evaluate subsurface defects, paste gaps, and process compliance.
• Participate in new technology and quality improvement initiatives.

3. MIS & Reporting (10%)

• Publish periodic NDT reports and inspection dashboards.
• Maintain inspection records and defect trend analysis.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Functional Responsibilities

• Establish and improve NDT-UT inspection facilities.
• Manage NDT equipment, calibration, and budgets.
• Interpret UT and phased-array scan data.
• Prepare technical analysis reports.
• Build and develop NDT inspection capability across plants.

Qualification & Experience

Education

• B.E./B.Tech

Certification

• ASNT Level II / Level III (UT) certification.

Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in NDT of composite materials (Glass Fiber/Carbon Fiber).
• 8+ years of overall industry experience.
• Exposure to Wind, Aerospace, Shipbuilding, or Automotive industries preferred.
