Job summary

John Cockerill India Limited, an ISO 9001:2015 engineering company, is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to support furnace projects in Mumbai. You will design instrumentation for Continuous Galvanizing Line and related furnaces, and collaborate with Process, Electrical, and Mechanical teams.

The role requires BE/BTech in Instrumentation, 2–5 years experience, and willingness to participate in FATs and on-site support during erection and commissioning. Multinational exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering from a reputed college.
• 2–5 years of instrumentation experience in similar industries.
• Experience in multinational companies is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop P&ID in coordination with Process Engineers and team leads.
• Prepare instrumentation lists and procurement specifications.
• Evaluate technical offers for instruments and automation equipment.
• Collaborate with Electrical and Automation teams to produce I/O lists and interlock diagrams.
• Support site erection and commissioning activities.

Job Purpose

Facilitate to transfer clarity to automation on furnace instruments and it’s signalling to develop theautomation that enable to achieve operational excellence and support the growth objectives of the organisation.

Key Result Areas

Instrumentation associated tasks for new projects of Continuous Galvanizing Line furnaces, Continuous Annealing Line furnaces and Color Coating Line ovens. Meeting the targets around Quality, Delivery and Cost. Innovation mindset to bring in new designs to improve functionality and reduce cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop P&ID in coordination with Process Engineer/Team leaders.
• Preparing instrumentation list and its specifications for procurement.
• Technical offer evaluation for all kinds of instruments (Transmitters, switches, Sensors, orifice, etc), automatic valves, analyzers, camera, pyrometers and On-field instruments as per project requirement.
• Work in close co-ordination with Electrical and Automation team to prepare project documents like I/O list, Motor and Sensor List, function description, Interlock diagrams etc…
• Work in close co-ordination with other functional team members from process and mechanical team to identify the instrumentation requirements.
• Participating in FAT with automation Team/vendor and coordinating with required inputs.
• Communicating with customers and participating in technical discussions.
• Site support during erection and commissioning (cold and hot trials).

Education and Experience

The candidate should be BE/B TECH in Instrumentation Engineering from Reputed college. 2 to 5 years of Instrumentation experience in similar Industries. Candidate worked in multinational companies will be an added advantage.

Background, Skills, and Competencies

• Conversant with furnace process, furnace instruments and its working principles to select right one to get desired performance.
• Conversant with P&ID and relevant documents preparation require to develop the software.
• Familiar with different instrumentation standards and safety norms.
• AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor and Plant 3D proficiency.
• Ability to bring innovation in design to improve functionality and reduce cost.
• Good Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
