Job summary

Ammann India seeks a Design Engineer to lead end-to-end design development, SAP/BOM data management, and engineering change management for mechanical and electromechanical systems.

You will interpret customer requirements, release design documents, and coordinate with sales, project management, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6-8 years of relevant work experience in product design and development.

Responsibilities

• Design & Development of mechanical/electromechanical systems based on project requirements.
• Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Perform material selection based on application, strength, durability, and cost.
• Apply GD&T and ensure high-quality detailing (weld symbols, tolerances).
• Prepare and release project-specific design requirements and specifications.
• Create, review, and maintain BOMs in SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Coordinate with sales, project management, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams.
• Manage engineering master data, part creation, and change requests in SAP.
• Ensure all released documents comply with standards and guidelines.
• Support engineering change management and implement revisions.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Design Engineer with strong hands-on experience in design development, project order scope release, and SAP/BOM data management. The role involves end-to-end responsibility from interpreting customer requirements and RFQs through design execution, costing, documentation, and engineering change management, while coordinating closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Development
• Independently design complete mechanical or electromechanical systems based on project requirements.
• Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings
• Perform material selection based on application, strength, durability, and cost considerations.
• Apply GD&T correctly and ensure high-quality detailing (weld symbols, machining details, tolerances).
• Project Engineering & Scope Management
• Prepare and release project-specific design requirements, technical specifications, and engineering scope.
• Create, review, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Manage engineering master data, part creation, and change requests in SAP.
• Coordinate with sales, project management, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure alignment on scope, cost, and timelines.
• Ensure all released documents comply with applicable engineering standards, quality norms, and internal product guidelines.
• Support engineering change management and implement design revisions based on customer feedback or internal improvements.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design fundamentals.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor or similar).
• Hands-on experience with SAP/ERP for BOM and material management.
• Knowledge of costing methods, BOM structuring, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Self-motivated with strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
