Job summary

Hetero in Telangana, India, seeks a seasoned engineering and maintenance leader to oversee API manufacturing blocks and drive reliability. You will manage preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance while coordinating with Production, QA, EHS and Projects to ensure smooth plant operations.

The role focuses on utilities maintenance, equipment upgrades, energy optimization and CAPA-driven improvements, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall engineering and maintenance activities across API manufacturing blocks.
• Manage preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of plant equipment and machinery.
• Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of utilities, including HVAC, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, compressed air, nitrogen systems and water systems.
• Oversee engineering activities related to reactors, centrifuges, dryers, filtration systems, pumps, compressors and other API process equipment.
• Plan and execute engineering projects, equipment installation, commissioning and capacity-enhancement activities.
• Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, EHS, Projects and other cross-functional departments to ensure smooth plant operations.
• Drive equipment reliability, energy conservation, cost optimization and maintenance-cost reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, EHS, statutory requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
• Review and maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, maintenance records, equipment qualification and calibration records.
• Support equipment qualification, validation, change control, deviation investigations and CAPA activities.
• Ensure effective implementation of preventive maintenance schedules and minimize equipment breakdowns and production downtime.
• Monitor spare-parts inventory, maintenance budgets, contractor activities and engineering expenditure.
• Lead plant modification, equipment-upgradation and process-improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety, mechanical safety, permit-to-work systems and applicable process-safety requirements.
• Coordinate internal, customer and regulatory audits and ensure timely closure of engineering-related observations.
• Lead, train and develop engineering, maintenance and utility teams.
• Prepare and review engineering MIS, equipment performance reports, utility consumption and maintenance KPIs.
