Job summary

Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL) in West Bengal seeks a Fire Safety Officer to oversee firefighting operations, equipment maintenance, and emergency drills across the plant.

The role involves monitoring fire water systems, conducting inspections, coordinating with SIC/Head Fire, and training staff and contractors in safety procedures and permit practices.

Responsibilities

• To Handle Onsite and Off-site emergencies.
• To carry out Fire Water Pump House operation and reported any electrical/ mechanical/ instrumentation related deviation to Fire SIC / Head Fire, Update all related records and documents.
• Carries out daily checks of all firefighting and safety equipments and vehicles. Report on patrols findings and any action taken to the SIC/Head (Fire).
• Carries out Fire Fighting inspection of all company facilities as per frequency to ensure required standards of fire safety are complied with.
• Responsible for carrying out preventive and protective maintenance of all Fire Fighting Equipment’s (mobile, static, and portable) as per the established procedures and systems.
• To provide full support to the plant team as a fire watcher/ Rescuer for carrying out critical jobs (Hot Job, Confined space entry), etc.
• Acts as Fire watcher for hazardous work & ensures work is carried out according to work permit terms and conditions.
• Assist the Maintenance supervisor / Group Leaders /SICs in the fire safety equipment maintenance and fire safety training requirements.
• Check Daily job schedule, follow up for pending jobs writes, work instructions and work permits.
• Inspects and tests firefighting and safety equipment to ensure they are in full working order. Ensures that records are adequate, updated and maintained.
• Reports to the SIC/Head (Fire) for any emergencies, accidents, hazards, etc., and takes preventive action.
• To participate in all scheduled Mock drills and other emergency drills.
• Develop, co-ordinate and present a various fire safety and other related training program for all employees, contract workers and/or others.
• Ensure that the identified defective equipment reported are corrected immediately for smooth operation.
• Close coordination with SICs /Shift Group Leaders and their team members on status of training and performance of equipment’s.
• To carry out performance testing of all firefighting equipment’s of fire vehicles in consent with SICs
• Carries out any other duties that may be assigned.
• Carries out duties and responsibilities in compliance with Statutory guidelines as well as follow the guideline of CDA (Conduct, discipline and Appeal) Rules.
