Job summary

WSP India in Bengaluru is seeking a Structural Engineer to join a project delivery team under supervision of a senior/ project engineer. You will perform detailed design and ensure adherence to client requirements and applicable American codes, QA processes, and sign-off.

The role emphasizes collaboration with WSP USA, coordination across disciplines, and ongoing development of technical skills in RAM SS, SAFE, and ETABS, with a view to PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Hands-on design experience per client specs with American codes.

Responsibilities

• Follow document control and QA processes, issue and archive drawings, specs, reports and correspondence.
• Carry out detailed design per client requirements with relevant American standards, QA review and sign-off.
• Prepare elemental work for project budgeting within deadlines.
• Address day-to-day queries from WSP USA team and ensure information is available for regional obligations.
• Determine CAD software, construct models, and perform analysis and checks.
• Stay updated with latest American building codes and WSP training materials.

Job description

This role is to work as part of a team to support the delivery of projects. This role will be working under the supervision of a senior or project engineer to carry out the following functions

Responsibilities

Follow in full the document control and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued, and filed / archived in an appropriate manner

• Carry out detailed design as per client requirements in accordance with latest/relevant American standard codes, QA and technical review and sign off by the Local GCC Head of Structures/ WSP USA office, including complex calculations and co-ordination issues

Prepare elemental work for project budget costing as delegated by the senior team member, within agreed deadlines and standards

Deal with the day to day queries from the WSP USA Team, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for fulfilling lead region’s obligations towards clients

Determine appropriate software for Computer Aided Design, construct models and undertake analysis and manual checks

Keep themselves acquainted with latest American building codes and design guides, WSP training manuals and attend technical trainings organized by team to enhance their knowledge and skill.

Flag resourcing concerns to team leader and assist colleagues to ensure team timelines are met

Cultural awareness, conscientious and an open mind and excellent communication skills are essential requirements for the role.

Demonstrated expertise in Structural Steel Design and Detailing,Reinforced Concrete.

Demonstrated awareness and understanding of international codes and standards like IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC etc. Past experience of working with american standards will be preferred.

Conversant with engineering softwares like RAM SS, SAFE and ETABS.

Preferably M.Tech. in Structural Engineering.

It is desirable that the candidate initiated the process towards obtaining Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in any of the US states or British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.

Experience

• 3+ years of hands on design experience
