Job Summary
The Assistant EHS Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in interior fit-out projects. This role involves conducting risk assessments, site inspections, safety training, and ensuring workplace safety standards are upheld.
Experience
5-6 years of relevant experience in EHS management, preferably in construction or interior fit-out projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with local and international health, safety, and environmental regulations. Implement and enforce company EHS policies, procedures, and best practices. Assist in obtaining and maintaining necessary EHS certifications and permits.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and risks. Recommend corrective actions and monitor their implementation. Maintain records of incidents, near misses, and safety observations.
- Organize and conduct EHS training sessions for employees, contractors, and site workers. Promote awareness of workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and hazard prevention. Ensure employees use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide detailed reports. Implement corrective and preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. Coordinate with HR and management on employee health and safety concerns.
- Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management and pollution control. Promote sustainable and eco-friendly practices within interior fit-out projects. Assist in implementing energy-saving and green building initiatives.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, risk management, and workplace safety.
- Experience in conducting safety audits, site inspections, and compliance reporting.
- Proficiency in EHS management software and MS Office.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations and enforce safety measures effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- ADIS (Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety) or an equivalent safety qualification is required.
- Certification in EHS such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA will be an added advantage.
