Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Mumbai seeks an Ecology specialist to contribute to international projects, collaborating with UK teams and delivering ecological assessments and reporting. You will author technical reports, analyse bat sound data, and apply GIS tools like QGIS and ArcGIS for desk studies, site scoping and biodiversity net gain work under senior guidance.

We welcome 2–5 years of ecology experience, UK exposure preferred, and CIEEM membership is a plus; hybrid work and relocation support are

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Engineering.
• 2–5 years of ecology project experience, UK region preferred.
• Experience with Anabat Insight and Kaleidoscope.
• Proficient in GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS).
• Familiarity with UKHab classification and Defra Metric.
• Strong data analysis and report writing skills.

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic self-starter to join our Ecology team. You ll work on prestigious international projects, collaborate with UK teams, and contribute to ecological assessments and reporting.

Your role

• Author technical ecological reports.
• Analyse bat sound data (Anabat Insight/Kaleidoscope).
• Use GIS tools (QGIS/ArcGIS) for desk studies, site scoping, protected species records, and biodiversity net gain assessments.
• Work to tight deadlines using approved methodologies.
• Collaborate with team members and manage workload independently.
• Liaise daily with UK teams and build strong working relationships.
• Support bid preparation and manage work enquiries under senior guidance.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as required by process leads.
• Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

About you

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Engineering.
• 2- 5 years of experience in ecology projects (UK region preferred).
• Experience with Anabat Insight/Kaleidoscope.
• Proficient in GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS).
• Familiarity with UKHab classification and Defra Metric.
• Strong data analysis and report writing skills.
• Understanding of UK/EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, and licensing.
• Highly motivated, proactive, and focused on technical excellence.
