Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Chennai seeks a Securities & Derivative Analyst 1 to process orders and transactions from trading desks in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team.

The role requires strong domain knowledge across Equities, Fixed Income and Structured Notes, with hands-on mastery of the trade lifecycle, settlement, and regulatory controls to ensure accurate booking, confirmations and timely settlements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of macros.

Responsibilities

• Process orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team.
• Perform trade verifications to ensure accuracy of booking requests.
• Generate and match trade confirmations according to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) templates.
• Complete settlement tasks and daily rate revaluations accurately and on time.
• Coordinate transaction processing issues to the appropriate department and collaborate on a solution.
• Perform regulatory controls, account reconciliations, and record retention activities in accordance with established policies.
• Prepare and submit periodic internal and external regulatory reports.
• Participate in the periodic General Ledger (GL) proofing exercises as directed.
• Escalate, manage and report control issues with transparency to safeguard Citi.

Job description

The Securities & Derivative Analyst 1 is an entry level position responsible for processing orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to assist in the clearance, settlement and investigation of client securities and derivatives transactions.

Responsibilities:

• The candidate must possess strong domain expertise across Equities, Fixed Income, and Structured Notes, coupled with in-depth experience across the trade lifecycle (execution, affirmation, confirmation, and settlement). A solid settlement background is required, including hands‑on mastery of market mechanics such as DvP/RvP flows, fails remediation, Buy-In protocols, and SPO settlement processes.
• Perform trade verifications to ensure accuracy of booking requests
• Generate and match trade confirmations according to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) templates
• Complete settlement tasks and daily rate revaluations accurately and on time
• Coordinate transaction processing issues to the appropriate department and collaborate on a solution
• Perform regulatory controls, account reconciliations, and record retention activities in accordance with established policies
• Prepare and submit periodic internal and external regulatory reports
• Participate in the periodic General Ledger (GL) proofing exercises as directed
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
