Job summary

TheHireHub.AI is seeking a hands-on AI Engineer who can also serve as Engineering Lead to own AI features from idea to production. You will write code, shape architecture, review work, and guide a small squad toward measurable outcomes in recruitment AI.

You will work on agentic workflows, retrieval systems, and AI services, shipping safe, cost-conscious, and scalable capabilities that improve hiring speed, quality, and consistency across the platform.

About the Role

This role is for a hands-on AI Engineer who can also operate as an Engineering Lead. You will own AI features from idea to production, covering data, model selection, evaluation, release, and user experience. The role blends direct contribution with technical leadership, so you will be expected to write code, shape architecture, review work, and guide a small squad toward measurable outcomes. You will help turn agentic workflows, retrieval systems, and AI services into reliable product capabilities that improve hiring speed, quality, and consistency. Success in the role depends on shipping safely, controlling cost and latency, and creating repeatable engineering systems that scale with the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Own Flask-based AI services end to end, translating product needs into secure APIs with clear schemas, logging, tracing, and error handling so LLM features can ship reliably at production standards.
• Define and maintain API contracts for React experiences, collaborating closely with frontend partners and building internal demo interfaces when needed to validate product flow and user experience quickly.
• Design agentic workflows for recruiting use cases, including tool calling, planning, memory, and guardrails, so sourcing, outreach personalization, scheduling, and knowledge retrieval produce measurable workflow gains.
• Operate RAG as a product capability by owning chunking, embeddings, hybrid retrieval, freshness pipelines, and monitoring, improving answer quality while reducing drift and retrieval failures over time.
• Set and hit cost and latency targets by choosing the right model path, optimizing routing, caching, batching, and quantization, and tracking p50/p95 performance and task-level cost outcomes.
• Build evaluation and safety systems that measure task success, hallucination, and bias, then use dashboards, alerts, and red-team coverage to keep critical AI paths dependable.
• Manage lightweight MLOps for model and artifact versioning, canary or A/B releases, and rollback readiness, so changes can move safely from experimentation to production.
• Lead a small engineering squad by setting technical direction, reviewing work, mentoring ICs, and coordinating with Product, Design, and Customer teams to deliver business outcomes.
• Strong Python and Flask capability, with the ability to design clean APIs, production-grade service behavior, and maintainable backend code that supports AI features under real usage.
• Hands-on experience with agentic workflows and Retrieval-Augmented Generation, including tool use, planning, memory, vector search, and retrieval quality improvement at scale.
• Practical understanding of foundation models and compact models, including routing between them, plus exposure to fine-tuning, quantization, and distillation approaches.
• Solid systems and infrastructure fundamentals, including APIs, queues, data modeling, profiling, CI/CD, and cloud basics needed to ship dependable AI products.
• Ability to build evaluation frameworks and safety checks that make AI systems measurable, observable, and resilient across offline and online conditions.
• Experience with React or Next.js is useful for rapid prototyping, especially when validating AI workflows, demo surfaces, or user journeys with Design.
• Exposure to security, privacy, and compliance practices such as least-privilege access, masking, auditability, SOC2 readiness, or tenancy isolation is valuable.
• Familiarity with search and retrieval systems such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Vespa, Milvus, Pinecone, Weaviate, PGVector, or FAISS is a strong plus for this role.

Additional Plus

• HRTech, ATS, or CRM experience is a plus because the product works with recruiting workflows and sensitive candidate data.
• GPU inference optimization, Triton kernels, or custom CUDA work can help when improving model efficiency and serving performance.
• Frontend familiarity and security or compliance exposure can accelerate collaboration and reduce delivery risk in a product that handles PII.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of software engineering experience, with 6 months to 1 year building ML or LLM-powered products in production and a track record of moving from prototype to reliable deployment.
• Demonstrated ownership of AI or platform work that improved a business metric, whether through better retrieval quality, lower latency, stronger conversion, or reduced manual effort.
• Experience leading projects or guiding a small team, with the judgment to break down work, mentor others, and keep delivery aligned to outcomes.
• Comfort operating across backend, AI, and product boundaries, translating ambiguous goals into systems that can be measured, improved, and safely released.
