Job summary

onsemi in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Principal Engineer to define the design architecture for a new digital compute and analog/mixed-signal platform. You will lead architecture, RTL modeling, performance analysis and define design methodologies spanning chip design, working with global product teams.

You will mentor teams, drive innovation across CPU/MCU subsystems, FPGA prototyping, and embedded software in Python and C/C++.

Qualifications

• B.Tech / M.Tech in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 15+ years of strong technical experience across any domain of VLSI design.
• Extensive background in semiconductor products or IPs.
• Experience with embedded CPUs, hardware and software/firmware perspectives.
• Strong communication skills and ability to define strategic actions.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and methodologies for a new design platform across hardware and software.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to global teams.
• Guide design flow improvements, verification, and timing/power optimisation.
• Engage with product teams to align platform capabilities with market needs.
• Prototype and evaluate using FPGA and related verification methods.

The Role

This role presents an exciting opportunity to define the design architecture and methodologies for a new platform of digital compute and analog/mixed-signal products. As Senior Principal Engineer, you will define the design platform, targeting a large variety of different products. Your responsibilities will include architecture definition, design specification, RTL modeling and performance analysis. Also, you will get to define the design methodologies spanning the entire scope of chip design. You will have a central role within the organization, and you have the opportunity to interact with many product and design teams.

What You’ll Do

• Technical leadership: Define the architecture and methodology for a new design platform targeting a broad spectrum of products, covering elements of hardware and software
• Problem solving: Identify novel solutions when architecting product functionality and/or with design methodologies
• Technical guidance & mentoring: Guide world-wide teams in technical areas, from microarchitecture to productization
• Innovation: Define and create design methodology and design flow improvements for efficiency and robustness

Responsibilities

What Else You May Bring (Experience in some of the following areas is a plus)

• Experience in the design of CPU/MCU (sub)systems, compute functions and accelerators
• Development of signal processing components or processing systems
• Programming in Python for automation and C/C++ for embedded software
• Definition of design intent: one or more of specification, microarchitecture, structural / functional assessments (CDC, test readiness), verification methods (formal / simulation), physical design (synthesis, timing/power optimisation), process technology aspects, etc.
• Experience in FPGA prototyping
• Awareness in mixed-signal design and verification
