Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Apprentice to join the RDMC Design Team in Bangalore. You will gain exposure to civil and structural design and analysis under leading engineers on UK and international projects.

The role covers river and coastal engineering, hydraulic structures, flood defence and related disciplines, with opportunities to work with Robot and Staad Pro software, develop drawings, reports and documentation, and learn UK health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Familiarity with reinforced concrete and steelwork design principles.
• Awareness of UK health and safety legislation (CDM Regulations 2015) is desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prepare basic sketches.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the Civil and Structural design and analysis of Civil Engineering Structures using relevant codes (IS, BS, Eurocode, American codes).
• Support modeling and analysis tasks using Robot, Staad pro Structural Analysis and other engineering software.
• Help prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for project deliverables.
• Stay updated with industry trends, safety standards, and sustainable engineering practices.

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis has an opportunity for an Apprentice to join the Rivers, Dams, Maritime & Coastal (RDMC) Design Team in Bangalore.

Your role

The RDMC team forms part of the infrastructure (Environmental and Water Management) group within AtkinsRéalis’ Water & Environment business. We deliver projects for both UK and international clients, typically in the following areas:

• Flood defence schemes
• Hydraulic structures (e.g., dams, weirs, gates)
• Ports and maritime infrastructure

As a member of this team, you will be exposed to a broad range of engineering disciplines including river and coastal engineering, hydrology and hydraulics, and structural detailing.

The ideal candidate for this role will need to be able to demonstrate the following level of skills and experience:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• M.Tech Structures preferred.
• Basic understanding of river and coastal engineering, including flood defence design and refurbishment of hydraulic structures.
• Familiarity with reinforced concrete and steelwork design principles.
• Awareness of health and safety considerations in design and construction.
• Understanding of UK health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations 2015) is desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prepare basic sketches.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Good presentational skill.
• Managing own time.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving project needs.
• Ability to follow quality procedures and maintain high standards in work.
