Job Summary
As an Applied Research Engineer in AI, you'll pioneer advancements in spatial intelligence, world models, and generative design to solve EPC and manufacturing challenges. You'll translate cutting‑edge AI concepts into scalable prototypes and production systems, focusing on real‑world applications like advanced perception and navigation in physical site environments, predictive simulations, automated facility design, and adaptive manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine spatial intelligence models for 3D environment understanding, enabling AI‑driven site planning and project progress tracking, asset optimization, safety or quality monitoring, and collision‑free layouts in EPC projects.
- Build and iterate on world models that simulate dynamic manufacturing scenarios, incorporating physics‑based reasoning, multi‑agent interactions, and uncertainty quantification for predictive maintenance and supply chain resilience.
- Advance generative design AI systems to automate iterative engineering outputs, such as topology optimization for structural components or customized factory floorplans, integrating CAD/PLM tools.
- Prototype AI solutions for real‑world EPC/manufacturing use cases, including digital twins, generative CAD workflows, and spatial reasoning for robotics/automation.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (engineers, data scientists, domain experts) to deploy models on edge/cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, robustness, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, BIM).
- Conduct applied research, on AI advancements in spatial‑gen AI for EPC and heavy industry.
- Evaluate emerging tech like agentic AI, quantum‑safe simulations, and multimodal foundation models for domain‑specific enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, Robotics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-10+ years in applied AI research, in a corporate set‑up, with hands‑on expertise in recent technology advancements in areas like spatial intelligence (e.g., NeRF, Gaussian Splatting, Point Clouds), vision‑language & world models (e.g., Genie, Sora‑like video models, physics simulators), and generative design (e.g., CNNs, diffusion models, GANs for 3D).
- Proficiency in PyTorch/TensorFlow, 3D libraries (e.g., Open3D, Blender), simulation frameworks (e.g., MuJoCo, Isaac Sim), and deployment tools (e.g., AWS SageMaker, NVIDIA NIM).
- Strong domain knowledge in EPC/manufacturing: BIM, CAD/PLM (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), process automation, or digital twins.
- Experience with real‑world AI deployment, including MLOps, edge computing, and handling noisy site or industrial data (e.g., LiDAR, drone imagery).
Preferred Skills
- Background in agentic AI, multimodal models, or quantum computing applications for optimization.
- Publications or contributions in spatial AI, generative design (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR).
- Familiarity with both open source and enterprise cloud & AI tools for document processing and document intelligence.
