Job description

Role & responsibilities

We're looking for an Application Engineer to be the technical bridge between our robot platform and the real-world problems our customers need solved, across garment factories, fabric processing units, foundries, and machine shops in Tamil Nadu.

This role goes beyond routine robot maintenance. You'll work on practical challenges such as enabling a palletizing robot to handle a 15kg garment carton at 800+ picks per hour, developing an end-effector that can grip a fabric roll without damaging it, and configuring a 6-axis arm to safely tend a CNC lathe. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on practical problem-solving and execution, rather than a purely desk-based position.

What You'll Work On
  • Garment & textile applications: Designing and commissioning end-of-line palletizing solutions for finished garment cartons, fabric roll handling for dyeing/compacting/finishing stages, and yarn/bale handling systems for textile units in the Tirupur cluster
  • Metal manufacturing applications: Building material handling and palletizing solutions for machined components (pump housings, motor casings, auto parts), and CNC machine-tending cells for job shops and component manufacturers in the Coimbatore belt
  • End-effector (EOAT) design: Designing and prototyping custom grippers and tooling for each customer's specific product, including fabric-safe grippers, carton grippers, and component-specific fixtures, since off-the-shelf tooling rarely fits real production needs
  • Foundry and harsh-environment assessment: Evaluating where our standard robots can and can't be deployed safely (dust, heat, moisture exposure), and working with us and the manufacturer on protected/adapted configurations where needed
  • On-site customer engineering: Visiting customer factories to scope applications, take process measurements, and translate real production problems into robot cell designs
  • Programming & commissioning: Programming robot motion (teach pendant and/or offline programming), setting up safety systems, and commissioning cells on customer floors
  • Manufacturer liaison: Working directly with our robot manufacturer's technical team on specifications, customization requests, and troubleshooting

What We're Looking For
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics & Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Hands-on experience programming and/or commissioning industrial robots (any brand: FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, Estun, JAKA, or similar all count)
  • Working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similar) for gripper/fixture design
  • Comfort working directly with customers on factory floors; this is not a remote or purely lab-based role
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Tamil Nadu (primarily Tirupur and Coimbatore) for customer site visits
  • Strong problem-solving ability, with the confidence to develop solutions for applications that may not have an established precedent

Preferred (nice to have, not dealbreakers)
  • Prior exposure to palletizing or material handling robot cells specifically
  • Experience with PLC/controls integration (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Delta, or similar)
  • Understanding of textile manufacturing processes (dyeing, compacting, garmenting) or metal manufacturing processes (foundry, CNC machining, fabrication)
  • Vision system integration experience (for future inspection/quality applications)
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in refining processes and solutions over time
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, particularly when working across technical and customer-facing teams

Perks and benefits

  • Competitive salary, benchmarked to experience and market standards
  • Performance-based incentives tied to project delivery and business growth
  • Direct, hands-on training from our robotics manufacturing partner, covering product knowledge, robot programming, operation, and maintenance
  • Opportunity for international travel to the manufacturer's facility as part of the training program
  • Travel allowance for on-site customer visits
  • The opportunity to shape a new venture from an early stage, with a clear path to senior technical roles as the team and business grow

Location & Travel

Based in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, with regular travel to Coimbatore and surrounding industrial areas for customer site visits and factory assessments.
