Job summary

Evernorth Health Services, a division of The Cigna Group, is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Advisor in Hyderabad. You will work in the Mainframe PBM Technology organization, applying COBOL/JCL/CICS/DB2/Teradata expertise to design, develop, test and support technical delivery across onshore and offshore teams.

The role requires hands-on development, collaboration across Scrum teams, and mentoring junior engineers while guiding testable requirements and acceptance criteria.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of experience in developing mainframe batch and online applications (Cobol/DB2/CICS/JCL/VSAM).
• Experience with BPM (business process management) and process-based solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies, SCRUM leadership, and modern delivery practices.

Responsibilities

• Be hands-on in the design and development of robust solutions with focus on scale, security, reliability and cost.
• Support product delivery partners in build, test and release of solutions.
• Lead and participate in daily standups, code reviews, and ensure code quality and timely delivery.
• Provide impact analysis for new requirements or changes; contribute to low level design with the team.
• May lead or manage sizable projects and mentor junior team members.

Position Overview

The job profile for this position is Software Engineering Advisor, which is a Band 4 Contributor Career Track Role.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to work within our Mainframe PBM Technology organization who has experience with Mainframe COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, Teradata. This role provides counsel and advice to top management on significant Engineering matters, often requiring coordination between several PBM teams. In this role you will support the full software lifecycle of design, development, testing, and support for technical delivery. This role requires working with both onsite (Scrum Master, Product, QA and Developers) and offshore QA team members in properly defining testable scenarios based on requirements/acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Be hands-on in the design and development of robust solutions to hard problems, while considering scale, security, reliability, and cost
• Support other product delivery partners in the successful build, test, and release of solutions
• Be part of a fast-moving team, working with the latest tools and open-source technologies
• Work on a development team using agile methodologies.
• Understand the Business and the Application Architecture End to End
• Solve problems by crafting software solutions using maintainable and modular code.
• Participate & potentially lead daily team standup meetings where you’ll give and receive updates on the current backlog and challenges.
• Participate in code reviews. Ensure Code Quality and Deliverables
• Provide Impact analysis for new requirements or changes. Responsible for low level design with the team
• May lead or manage sizable projects
• Provides thought leadership and technical expertise across the PBM technology organization
• This role will act in a senior manner, potentially leading scrum teams, being held accountable for projects and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Requires strong knowledge of the following technology skill sets – Mainframe COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, Teradata
• Experience designing and developing process-based solutions or BPM (business process management)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Strong influencing/negotiation skills.
• Strong interpersonal/relationship skills.
• Strong time and project management skills.
• Familiarity with agile methodology including SCRUM team leadership.
• Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior/test driven development, and specification by example.

Required Experience & Education:

• 11+ years of experience in developing mainframe batch and online applications, utilizing Cobol/DB2/CICS/JCL/VSAM
• Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Technology Management, or related field of study.

Desired Experience:

• Healthcare experience including Disease Management
• Coachingof team members

Location & Hours of Work

< >Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate.

Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India in a hybrid working model (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH)
