Job summary

Shell Infotech in Bengaluru seeks an experienced API Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute API test cases. You will perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing of REST/SOAP APIs, using Postman and SoapUI, and build automation with Rest Assured.

You will validate HTTP methods, status codes, headers, and payloads; verify backend data with SQL and participate in CI/CD with Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps within an Agile team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 years of relevant experience in API Testing / QA Automation.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute API test cases and test scenarios.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing of APIs.
• Test REST/SOAP APIs using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools.
• Validate API requests and responses, including HTTP methods, status codes, headers, and payloads.
• Develop and maintain API automation scripts using Rest Assured or equivalent frameworks.
• Perform positive, negative, boundary, and data-driven API testing.
• Validate backend data using SQL queries and database testing.
• Test API authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, API Keys, Basic).
• Analyze failures, logs, and defects; collaborate with developers for resolution.
• Integrate automated API tests with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Maintain test documentation, test data, automation scripts, and defect reports.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities with development, product, and QA teams.
