Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced Consultant – API Platform Engineer to drive the evolution of enterprise API Gateway infrastructure, governance, and platform engineering. The ideal candidate will have expertise in API Gateway platforms, API security, lifecycle governance, developer enablement, cloud technologies, and platform modernization across hybrid and cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve enterprise API Gateway strategy and architecture
• Implement and manage API Gateway solutions across AWS, Azure, Apigee, Kong, Envoy, and hybrid environments
• Drive API governance, lifecycle management, versioning, authentication, throttling, and security standards
• Administer API Gateway platforms including configuration, deployment, upgrades, backups, and platform operations
• Implement traffic management including rate limiting, caching, circuit breakers, and routing policies
• Manage API security using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, JWT, WAF, Microsoft Entra ID, and PING Identity
• Enable developer experience through API documentation, Swagger/OpenAPI, API mocking, testing, and self-service onboarding
• Lead API Gateway migration and modernization initiatives with zero-downtime strategies
• Promote API-first architecture, REST and gRPC standards across engineering teams
• Collaborate with Security, Cloud, DevOps, SRE, and Application Architecture teams

Qualifications

• Strong experience with API Gateway / API Management platforms (Apigee X, Layer7, AWS API Gateway, Kong, Envoy)
• Expertise in API Security – OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, JWT, WAF, Microsoft Entra ID, PING Identity
• Experience in REST APIs, gRPC, OpenAPI, Protobuf
• High Availability, Disaster Recovery & Platform Operations
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
