Job summary

Saifee Hospital is seeking an experienced anesthesiologist to lead perioperative care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative stages. The role emphasizes tailoring anesthesia plans, continuous monitoring, and ensuring patient safety from the OR to recovery.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, quick decision-making under pressure, and up-to-date knowledge of anesthesia practices and technologies to support multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient history, current health, and surgical plan to create a tailored anesthesia plan.
• Discuss risks and benefits with patients/guardians, obtaining consent.
• Administer anesthesia and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Adjust anesthesia levels and manage emergencies.
• Oversee recovery in PACU and manage pain and complications.
• Stabilize critically ill patients in ICU and manage pain.
• Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams; maintain patient records; supervise junior doctors and participate in governance.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Preoperative Care:
• Evaluate patient history, current health, and surgical plan to create a tailored anesthesia plan.
• Discuss risks and benefits with patients/guardians, obtaining consent.
• Intraoperative Care (During Surgery):
• Administer specific types and dosages of anesthesia.
• Continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygenation).
• Adjust anesthesia levels and manage emergencies to ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Postoperative Care:
• Oversee recovery from anesthesia in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Manage pain, nausea, and other complications using analgesics, nerve blocks, etc..
• Monitor hemodynamic stability, airway, and consciousness.
• Critical Care & Pain Management:
• Stabilize critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units (ICU).
• Manage acute, chronic, and cancer pain.
• Leadership & Documentation:
• Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Supervise junior doctors and participate in quality improvement and governance.
