Job summary

Tata Elxsi in Bengaluru seeks Android Middleware Developers for the Automotive domain to develop and integrate AAOS middleware components and HAL modules for infotainment systems. You will implement IPC interfaces, work across audio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and media, and optimize performance, boot time, and memory usage.

Ideal candidates have strong C++, Java, and Shell/Python skills, plus hands-on Android internals (HAL, system services, AIDL) and SELinux policy experience.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Android internals including HAL and AIDL.
• Experience configuring SELinux policies and Linux IPC concepts.
• Strong multithreading and IPC understanding on Linux platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate AAOS middleware components and HAL modules for Infotainment systems.
• Implement AIDL/Binder IPC interfaces and vendor services.
• Collaborate with BSP, framework, and app teams for feature enablement.
• Optimize performance, boot time, and memory usage.
• Support integration of 3rd party and OSS stacks.

• Provide unit tests, integration tests, and basic field issue reproduction support.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate AAOS middleware components and HAL modules for Infotainment systems.


• Implement AIDL/Binder IPC interfaces, vendor services and contribute to system services and framework customizations.


• Work across Audio, Bluetooth, Wi Fi, Projection, Media, Power, and VHAL-related functionalities.


• Debug using logcat, perfetto, gdb, systrace, and Linux-level tools.


• Collaborate with BSP, framework, and app teams for feature enablement.


• Optimize performance, boot time, and memory.


• Support integration of 3rd party and OSS stacks.


• Ensure ASPICE compliane - ASPICE aligned development, documentation, and reviews.


• Provide unit tests, integration tests, and basic field issue reproduction support.


• Exposure to CTS/VTS/STS testing


• Migration of MW services/Framework components/HALs to newer Android versions

Required Skills

• Strong coding skills: C++, Java, Shell/Python.


• Hands-on experience with Android internals (HAL, system services, AIDL), SELinux policy configuration.


• Understanding of Linux concepts, multithreading, and IPC.

Desirable

• Exposure to vehicle communication stacks (CAN/SOME/IP)
