Job summary

Evalueserve India in Gurugram seeks an experienced patent drafter and office-action specialist to manage US and Indian filings in mechanical domains. You will draft claims, detailed descriptions, drawings, and interview inventors, while mentoring junior colleagues and ensuring compliance with patent office rules.

The role requires a Master’s in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, strong English writing, and knowledge of AI/ML and IP laws across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering and 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of AI/ML, cybersecurity with patent prosecution experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English with persuasive writing.
• Understanding of IP laws across countries and patent databases.
• Experience drafting patent applications and/or office-action responses; client management preferred.

Job description

Skilled in drafting high-quality patent applications for the US and Indian jurisdictions, with expertise in analyzing mechanical invention disclosures, assessing novelty through prior-art comparison, and conducting inventor interviews. Proficient in preparing complete patent specifications—including claims, detailed descriptions, and drawings—and reviewing drafts prepared by team members. Experienced in mentoring junior associates and ensuring technical accuracy, clarity, and compliance with patent office requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Patent Application Drafting (for filing in US and India) – Understanding invention disclosures related to various technical domains (Mechanical), determining novelty of invention based on comparison with known prior art, conducting inventor interviews, drafting patent application (including claims, detailed description, drawings), reviewing patent application drafted by team members, and mentoring team members for drafting patent application.
• Drafting response to Office Action (for US applications) – Analyzing patent application and references cited in office action, determining differences between the patent application and cited references, formalizing strategies to respond on various objections/rejections (101, 102, 103, 112) in office action, amending claims and/or writing arguments to differentiate patent application from the cited references, reviewing office action responses prepared by other team members, and mentoring team members for drafting office action response

Core Competencies

• Master’s degree in computer science/electrical engineering
• Knowledge of AI/ML, cybersecurity with Patent prosecution experience
• Strong analytical skills with thorough understanding of the technology domain
• Excellent written and verbal communication (in English) with particular ability in creative and persuasive writing
• Excellent comprehension and presentation skills
• Responsible attitude and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
• Well-developed interpersonal and active listening skills
• Prior experience of drafting patent applications and/or office action responses and independent client management is preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of IP laws of various countries, various patent databases, technical domains with respect to educational background
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Any certifications of additional courses or trainings (in Intellectual Property or otherwise) would be a plus
