Job summary

Futures First in Hyderabad, India, seeks a Research Analyst to apply quantitative and qualitative skills to grains and oilseeds markets and derivatives.

You will track demand/supply, read reports, build datasets, create scenarios and balance sheets, and work with Market Analysts to develop tools and market strategies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Track fundamental developments (demand/supply, weather, stocks) in global grain markets.
• Create and maintain data of fundamentals; build scenarios and balance sheets for grain products.
• Read and analyze information from multiple sources and reports to identify key themes.
• Collaborate with Market Analysts to gather requirements and develop tools/solutions.
• Develop and refine market strategies in partnership with analysts; perform basic charting/technical analysis.
• Monitor data points to spot anomalies and opportunities in the market.

Job Profile

As a Research Analyst, you will use your understanding of grains and oil seeds’ markets and derivatives, your quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, and research abilities to facilitate market analysis and support the operations of the Research Team.

Job Responsibilities

• Track fundamental developments like demand/supply, weather, stocks developing across the global grain markets.
• Create and maintain data of fundamentals.
• Create scenarios and balance sheets of different grain products.
• Understand physical market developments globally.
• Read and analyze information and news from multiple sources and reports and identify key themes.
• Work closely with Market Analysts to gather requirements, create applications, and develop tools and technical solutions.
• Work with Market Analysts to create different market strategies.
• Read technical charts and carry out basic technical analysis.
• Continuously track several data points to identify anomalies and opportunities in the market.
• Focus on upgrading performance and enhancing the knowledge base of the Team.

Requirements

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Economics graduates may be preferred)

Skillset

• Excellent understanding of futures and options.
• Strong analytical skills, preferably in fundamentals of commodities market.
• Good knowledge of technical analysis.
• Knowledge of data analysis, preferably experience of handling financial markets data.
• Take initiative and be proactive in following up on discussions.
• Ability to work in a team, sharing responsibilities and knowledge across the team.
• Ability to prioritize and manage users' expectations.
• Proficiency in applicable technologies and the ability to process and analyze raw market data is an added advantage

Work Experience

• Experience of at least 2+ years in European/ US commodities research desk at a mid-sized I -Bank or Hedge Fund is preferred
• Strong understanding of physical markets of Commodities is preferred.
• Excel-based modelling experience is preferred.
