Job summary

Colgate-Palmolive in Mumbai seeks an Analyst/Sr. Analyst to manage core General Accounting under US GAAP, drive business engagement and continuous improvements. You will reconcile accounts, ensure compliance with US GAAP, and support closing activities in a hybrid work setup.

Responsibilities include intercompany reconciliations, cash application, journal postings, audit query resolution, and collaboration with local teams to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • Technical Expertise: Understanding of Ind AS, US GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Systems: Hands-on experience with SAP ERP is a mandatory requirement.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: SOX compliance
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication and ability to interact with auditors.
  • Tools: Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts, Bank accounts and follow up on open items.
  • Ensure accounting is in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Maintain controls to achieve high accuracy per internal guidelines.
  • Execute intercompany transactions & reconciliations.
  • Perform cash application and Netting for ICO customers/vendors.
  • Post timely journal entries and ensure accurate working papers.
  • Close books in coordination with local team/business.
  • Review and resolve audit queries (Internal & External).
  • Engage with local teams to stay aligned on processes and resolve issues.
  • Perform SOPs as defined and review for changes.
  • Maintain SOX documentation & trackers.
  • Participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Brief introduction - Role Summary/Purpose:

As an Analyst/Sr. Analyst, you will will manage core General Accounting functions under US GAAP, Business engagement and Continuous Improvements

Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts, Bank accounts and follow up on open items
  • Ensure that all the accounting is in compliance with the US GAAPs
  • Ensure the effective controls are maintained to achieve high accuracy as per the internal company guidelines
  • Execute intercompany transactions & reconciliations
  • Perform cash application and Netting process for ICO customers/ICO Vendors
  • Ensure accurate working and posting of Rule based journal entries
  • Perform the entire range of activities pertaining to closing books of accounts in close co-ordination with local team/business
  • Review and timely resolution of all audit queries (Internal & External Audit)
  • Engage with local teams to stay aligned on all the processes, resolve issues on timely basis
  • Perform all accounting activities as per the defined SOPs on timely manner
  • Review the SOP periodically and recommend necessary changes as and when needed in consultation with relevant stake holders
  • Perform all the compliances documentation & trackers as per SOX guidelines
  • Participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives as well as other business partner initiatives
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP & accounting principles
  • Monthly Financials report (Pre close Deck) preparation & presentation to the business Finance Director
  • Reporting quarterly CFN submissions, 10K forms & other annual submissions
  • Performing monthly GL analysis, review & submission for approval as per timelines
  • Participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives as well as other business partner initiatives
  • Ensure prompt response to queries of local business
